I guess they just lost power on the live stream

Here's a close up video from earlier

Probably lightning related as they had some storms move thru before it started.

I circled the building:

Obviously burned to the ground

Surrounding bldgs saved.

I'm guessing 15-20 units in that standalone building

Pretty hot for about 2-3 hrs

Rain storm and units from all over The Valley helped get it pretty much extinguished by noon or 1pm

Be interested to see what, if any, post incident investigation occurs.

Back in the horse-drawn carriage days when Flatscatter was a shurnuf firefighter, every major incident resulted in an internal (sometimes external) investigation

I'd like to see what develops there.
Response time
Time to get first water on
Time to get second and third waters on
Time from first call to on site
Time to 2nd alarm and request for mutual aid
Any hydrant issues incurred
Staff shortages on-site
Incident commandment issues (communication)

All I will say, is that from 50 ft above, is it looked like a Chinese fire drill at best

I am guessing they were pretty close to doomed from the start with how hard the wind was blowing.

I'm just glad it didn't spread to adjoining buildings and everybody got out safe.

Were there really only 4 rooms occupied at the time? With the amount of cars parked around the building that didn't make much sense to me.

Their parking is under the bldg and in front. Closer to Padre Blvd

The cars parked along that fence are people from Pearl and Sapphire

Quick update:

We stayed here this last week and they finally started putting up frame for the first residential floor there. Access to the beach is under the cement pad that covered the parking area under the burned portion. Management told us it was a lightening strike that caused the fire.

Place is dated a bit but was a nice place to stay due to pool and proximity to the beach being great.
