I was in Odessa last year, and my host took me to eat at a steak house there. I believe it was in the vicinity of Odessa College, and the exterior of the building was painted red.

After we were seated, the waitress brought out a big block of cheddar cheese and hot rolls. The steak and onion rings were really good too.

I absolutely cannot remember the name of this place. Does anybody in the Midland/Odessa area know the name and address of this restaurant?

In the 70's there was a restaurant called the Barn Door and Pecos Depot that served block cheese and warm bread when you sat down. It was near the college and was red. The Depot part was the bar and the Barn Door was the restaurant.

this is the first steak house i think of when i hear odessa.

The cheese is only at night. One of the best cuts of prime rib you will ever get to enjoy.
