Howdy Ags,

My wife and I have a plot of land to build on west of Amarillo. We're exploring barndos, and really like what we're seeing as far as cost per square foot, durability, and flexibility. In our conversations with local lenders, we have found many are not keen on building barndos for a variety of reasons, including lack of comparable properties.

Does anybody have any experience with lenders who will mortgage barndos?

We have someone who can draft our house plans, and even a GC in the event that the lender will not allow me to build on my own. We are just trying to get in contact with lenders who are open to barndos.

Thanks for your help.

Check with AgTexas. They are fantastic.

Where are you building West of Amarillo? We lived in Bushland for several years before moving to the farm.

Shoot me a PM. I'm a Loan Officer at Plains Land Bank and we finance barndo's all the time.

Don't know if he does barndos, but I was pleased with Gilbert Muro, of Muro's Metal Works, for my barn. You can see his work here:
