My mom lost her miniature dachshund about a year ago at the age of 16. She's now ready for another. Looking for a red, female miniature dachshund. She's in Montgomery, TX but willing to travel within the state, or even to neighboring states, for the right pup. Anyone familiar with good breeders?

I can't help with a breeder, but there's always Dachshund Rescue of Houston. They've been great for the two we adopted from them over the years.

There are a couple "little people" on our block who raise dogs. Maybe not what you had in mind.

There are plenty of dachshunds that need homes, and at least three rescues in the area. But if you want a puppy (like we did for our first dog), Dachshund Dude Ranch in Comfort is where we got our puppy.

Not uncommon, although there are often other ways to treat back issues, depending on the severity. Keeping your dachshund from jumping up and down from furniture (with ramps) and carrying them up and down stairs will help prevent issues.
