So we all know the founder is an Aggie. However, what do we know/feel about leaving our vehicles there until midnight or 1 AM?….on gameday

Don't do it. They will put a big sticker on your windshield that is hard as heck to get off. They monitor the parking lot. Just because he is an Aggie, doesn't mean anything. I'm learning he is not what you think he is.

Locals from Brazoria county don't have the most flattering things to say about him. Something about his divorce, etc.
But, he's made a bunch of money with a good business model and is giving a bunch of money to the university, so people will deify him.

To clarify my post . . .
1. Don't park yes. I did it once and got a sticker on my car. Agree it's not cool park there.
2. My comment about him being an Aggie and not "what we think he is" is in reference to said rumors but also that he trying to drive out and shut down all convenience stores except for his. I understand business, but the guy has millions if not close to a Billion, and putting a huge "Buc-ees is 35 miles" billboard right above Hruska's in Ellinger is bush league in my opinion. I love Hruskas (much better kolaches and burgers) so want it to stay open.
Already put several nice older C-stores out of business on some of my travel routes. And donated $25M to ATM and then pulled it back for some bs reason (allegedly).

It was $50M. There were delays in getting his building started but I don't know that his donation vanished.

While we're airing grievances against Buc-ee's, can I air a grievance on their ice prices doubling in the last 5 years or so?
It's just some water and a little electricity in a plastic bag.
I'm sure there's cost escalation but not doubled in that period.
I don't know anything about the fella's divorce, but he's straight profiteering after hooking so many people on affordable bags of ice.
Hook a consumer then jack up the price.
Oldest trick in the book.
They're still the cheapest ice around but that's not the point. It doesn't have to be this way.
Maybe he could have special Aggie pricing if he's not gonna let us park our cars there on Gamedays.
</end of grievance airing>

Wait, you're *****ing about the ice going from .99 to 1.99? For a 20 lb bag of ice? Which is still significantly cheaper than anywhere else that only sells 16 lb bags now?
Really?

That's the nature of the industry. Even on regular routes of mine that are too small for a Buc-ee's, the mom & pop stores are gone and replaced by chains, or by Dollar General. In at least one case I know, Pop did get a little bit of a buyout when the new gas station and c-store came in. But some of my routes through the piney woods look very different over the last few years, without a Buc-ee's in sight.
The big ass c-stores connected to gas stations have been blowing up all over the place the last couple years, supposedly related to some changes in the tax code that incentivized them to build bigger.

Confusing rage (and possibly alcohol-fueled or dementia related) is low key good Texags entertainment no matter the topic!
