My kid in College Station was sick last week and tested positive for the flu. Dr told him it was wide spread there.
He very seldom is sick but had a fever and started tamiflu on Wednesday and was good by Saturday

Maybe I've never paid attention but have noticed everyone this year has specifically said "I have influenza A". Stood out to me, seems I just remember people saying "I have the flu"

Dropping off my daughter at a Girl Scouts event this weekend, one mom was dropping off one of her 2 kids at same event.

Other mom: "Oh where is Susie?"
Mom of 2: "Susie is home with Flu A"

It does seem that calling out Flu A is a badge of honor now.

My sister (former Aggie turned Lib & COVID hysterical person) specifically mentioned "Flu A" when talking about her son getting sick recently. I mentioned I had the flu, and she said "which one? [Son] just got over flu A."

I didn't even answer because, does it matter? Doesn't change the treatment.

Maybe less but people definitely got tested for the flu before COVID. They would just say, "I have the flu" though. They wouldn't say "I have influenza A" which I've heard a lot this year.

Elementary aged son woke up with fever this morning. Probably flu, but he does have a cough that sounds a bit like croup. I'm now the last man standing in the family.

Son had a fever for 2 days last week and a lingering cough for a week, but overall seems to have been quick
