I think COVID also just changed work environments. People are far more likely to call work and say they're sick and need to work from home than they were in 2019. And it's far, far more likely to not be frowned upon.
Probably so. And I suspect maybe more people are going to the hospital instead of just going to Walgreen's for some Theraflu or something, due to enhanced news coverage about the latest bug going around every week.

One of the nurses said they normally get busy this time of year, but not like this. Regardless of perceptions, the hospital bed shortage turned out to be a real, objective fact.

My mom did a stint in ICU earlier this year for pneumonia, and that ain't fun.

I don't know, but I do not remember people getting sick all of the time like this until that Fauci-funded-Chinese-virus-lab leaked the China-Virus out into the world...likely intentionally.
You are so ****ing dumb, good lord. Welcome to flu season, jackwad.

I think it's also with COVID we have another virus floating around that is year round. I never used to think about getting sick when traveling, but it's happened to me and anecodetely lots of people I know.

Flu seems to be worse this year than past seasons and we had the recent Norovirus outbreak on top of it. Lots of people getting sick from multiple things and more willing to call out of work.

Cool starry bra, but last time I got sick from international travel I can with almost certainly pin point the source to a the lady who was visibly sick and should not have been flying. Total disregard for others.

"captain trips"? Tha F is that term?

And I also agree that since covid mania took over the planet, its far more common and easier to call in sick because most companies aren't going to give you crap if you do, and smartly so. I used to hate it when somebody would come in with the flu coughing and hacking and blowing snot errwhere at the office. The only result is that inevitably somebody else would get sick and the bug would stick around the office longer.

With today's world, you can call in sick but still do some work and at least sort of be productive. Its' better all around.

Won't flag direct insult (which is always funny to receive from flaming liberal)...just know that you wouldn't even begin to say that to my face. You're a washed up internet gangster. A little boy.

Also, peep link on page one...many more articles and studies like it...proving me right...that people are getting sick more often now than pre-Covid. You and your fellow liberal male femnist bro, WES, should stop relying on Don Lemon and Rachel Maddow fo heavily...do your own research.

Yeah I think it was an effort at humor through hyperbole, but I don't think many here have read that book.

Capt Trips is from The Stand. Didn't any of you guys watch the mini-series as a kid back when that was a thing?

And our office has been decimated too with illness. Multiple people with flu A which seems to be dominant strain. Ad I'm glad they're staying home. Dragging your sick ass to work like some sort of badge of honor is stupid.

My kid in College Station was sick last week and tested positive for the flu. Dr told him it was wide spread there.
He very seldom is sick but had a fever and started tamiflu on Wednesday and was good by Saturday

Maybe I've never paid attention but have noticed everyone this year has specifically said "I have influenza A". Stood out to me, seems I just remember people saying "I have the flu"
