We get a bananas foster king cake delivered to the office every year and it lasts about 30 minutes compared to the other king cakes that last for 2-3 daysFlaith said:I thought king cake was just below average, dry wanna-be cinnamon bun until I had three different kinds in the galley of an offshore drilling rig. Not sure where those coonasses got them from, but it was cream cheese, blueberry, and strawberry... almost more like a danish or czech kolache cake. Incredible.GoAgs92 said:I've had some dry king cake with that super sugary frosting…no thanksTXAG 05 said:Furlock Bones said:
King's Cake is one of the all time overrated food items. The very best are just good.

Concha has that shape and appearance, but does it also describe every other cheap Mexican carb in the genre?cajunaggie08 said:One of my biggest dessert disappointments is trying a concha for the first time. It was literally just plain ass bread with some sugar on top. Don't get me wrong, its not like I need more sugar in my life but for a dessert pastry it was terrible.94chem said:Flaith said:
I feel like a Tres Leches would hit harder on the Houston pride-o-meter than a King Cake, but you would have similar issues with shipment.
Tres Leches is the one thing I get from Arandas Bakery that's quality. The rest of it is basically suitable for pre-marathon carb loading. As much as I love Tex-mex, the Mexican dessert ranks only above the Chinese near the bottom of the dessert kingdom.
