Pat with quite a flip from previous messaging (see above).

I'll wait to see what MFR and SCW have to say today. The network weather people will drive you crazy.

Yeah, it will be a tough look for SCW if it's a total bust.

Lanza did hedge 2-3 days ago when mentioning that it's very difficult to predict snowfall in New Jersey, and much more so on the gulf coast.

But he seemed to be all in yesterday, and SCW doesn't do that unless things are fairly certain.

But then he drops that tweet last night.

Looking like a southern shift may play out which would put more snow in the Fort Bend, Brazoria, and Galveston county areas…I'm right on the FB/Brazoria County line in Pearland, so we might be in store for heavier totals here now…

Time will tell…

It would be fantastic to see 100% of the snow and precip push offshore. Houston has no business dealing with ice/sleet/snow.

Snow essentially dropped from forecast in Austin altogether. Moisture has no chance of getting out here. I suspect areas NW of Houston are all going to be sad.

Yeah Jeff Lindner isn't backing off…

Suspected the SCW guys follow suit…shift south of the low but still plenty of white stuff for the area, with the highest totals now shifting south of I-10…

May still bust, but most of the forecasts I'm seeing just shifted the bullseye, but didnt eliminate snow all together.

Just trying to run a business and weather the populace can't handle doesn't help!

These are my thoughts. The heavier banding will be south of what was initially thought but people are still going to see snow NW. just not as much as they hoped.

My kids are on the far western tip of this viewing area, west of CBus. They will see less than you, most likely.

We also haven't closed schools like the Karen's in the metro. We will wait till 4-5 am like it should be done.

A couple of things are driving it:

- I kind of miss the snow of my younger years in The Panhandle.
- My daughter REALLY wants to see snow.

I, obviously, cannot speak for how it is now, but when I was a kiddo, Amarillo didn't shut down schools until 6" piled up. Hell, we'd go to school with it snowing and a few inches on the ground only to have it called midday because the forecast amount missed. LOL, then it was a mad scramble for parents to figure out which one could leave work and/or which grandparent could pick the kids up. Fun times for a kid.

this is the latest Space City has waited to post in a while.

they are sweating getting this final prediction wrong.

my guess is the post is just full of hedges.

Sorry to break up the SCW ***** fest, but I did find this quote kind of funny. Also kind of sad, because we all know people are going to do it.

Quote:

In reality the best place for you to sled in Houston the steepest hill you can walk to.

Which doesn't lead down into a pond or a bayou.

I get it. We have huge hills on our property. I have skiis and snow tubes. Getting 2 inches would be nice for my kids.

My weather passion is winter weather setups. I know what I'm looking at in Severe season and Hell season (Summer) but I don't care about it, because it's normal and not all that exciting to me. I like rarities. I've chase nor'easters before and experienced the Northern Territories in -50.

This setup is about as good as it can get for SETX. It will be a shame if the Low moves towards the BOC and doesn't move flat about 100 miles north.

Reminds of a place called "Medi-Park" back in Amarillo again. It was the general hospital area of town and had some good size ponds.

Well, anyway. one especially had a good, steep incline leading down to the pond. People would sled down that hill right onto the iced over pond. Was always a dice roll on breaking through.

I know the precip is hit or miss though so I hope you get some tomorrow.

I've been trying to brainstorm a good hill we could walk to and there literally isn't one that doesn't lead to a ditch or pond. My best bet is one that has a walking trail in between and hoping we can stop in time
