It's a different league today, kind of like the NFL. In the NFL you can have lanky athletic receivers making acrobatic catches over the middle and athletic QBs who can run and put up video game numbers.MAS444 said:
I get that the constant kickouts and jacking/bricking 3s may not be as enjoyable to some...but the sheer athleticism of the players is on another level from the old NBA yall are referencing. MJ is the greatest and was my favorite player back from when I was a kid. He was athletically superior to most of his peers back in the day...but he wouldn't be in today's league. I appreciate it for what it is.
But that really wasn't possible in prior iterations of the NFL because they would've been concussed the very first game they tried that.
Similar deal in the NBA: It was much more physical than today's game, so through rule changes you've selected for certain types of players.
You think Steph Curry could do what MJ did against the Pistons, Knicks, Jazz, etc back in the 80s and 90s? I love Steph but he would've been beat up on both sides of the floor with aggressive hand-checking defense in his pocket and constant hard pick and rolls and body checks while on defense.
