If yall aren't watching them, you are missing out. They are fun to watch and are getting pretty good. Interesting mix of a bunch of young guys and a couple veterans. I think this coach is the real deal. The guys seem to be buying in and they are succeeding. I believe I made a similar thread last year about this time. A man has to watch something when football is done and before baseball starts.

Yep, and that answer is the NHL and not the NBA.

Havent been to a Rockets game in a while and usually only on work tickets etc. but I will say U of H is good this year again and their games are also fun. Went this week and had a blast

I'll go see a UH game over a Rockets game any day of the week.

The environment they've created at the Fertitta Center is top notch.

The NBA product sucks and generally speaking it's full of awful people.

I sat in the club for a midweek Rockets game last year (dad got em in an auction - for UofH). The atmosphere is sort of like a mall food court, with an NBA game down below where ice skating rink would be. Not exactly bad, not exactly electric.

But I've never been to any big games or playoffs at Toyota; so I'm sure the atmosphere gets up for bigger games than the few I've gone to.

Been to far more UH BB games, in recent years and over the course of my life, and it's pretty amazing how many more people show up when a college team wins consistently. I know non-Cougar parents who've bought season tickets because their kids go there and they just like basketball.

As someone who attended A&M during the Barone and Watkins years, and not quite old enough to really remember Phi Slamma, it's interesting to see that environment on a regular basis and not just when the big rival rolls into town.

The NBA lost me when it became so obvious that there was a two tiered officiating system that their announcers felt comfortable routinely saying things like "He can't drive in there as a 2nd year guy and expect to get that call against a future hall of famer" or "The refs are going to let that kind of thing go because they don't want to sit the guy everybody is coming to see with 3 fouls in the 1st half." Watching them force players and coaches to renounce their comments about China and its human rights record like they were committing ritual harakiri turned my stomach and made sure I never went back.

they are much improved not sure Id say they are fun to watch, scoring below 100 in a nba game these days is bad.

I like to see offensive rebounds. It shows desire. It is much easier to turn your back and go back on defense. If you go for the offensive rebound and don't get it, you have to sprint back on defense. That little bit of extra effort shows.

I'm not sure why most of you are even posting in this thread. You don't care about or watch one of the most popular leagues in the world. Congratulations.

As for the Rockets I completely agree with OP. Tons of young talent that play very hard for an experienced and successful coach. If they shoot more consistently they have a chance to be very dangerous a couple years ahead of their rebuild schedule.

Ferrtita center is probably the most appropriately sized arena out there in terms of the team it serves. Great place to watch a game, no bad seats.

And the Tops Drop intro is fuego.

My favorite part

But yeah it's all good. Their band is great. The fans are hyped. The team feeds off the energy.

My entire family is UH alum and most of them have season tickets. Anytime they can't use them we'll take them off their hands and take the kids. Even they have a blast.

It's just all around a phenomenal place to watch a basketball game. We've even taken my girls to a women's game and they're also fun (as much as a women's bb game can be).

Pretty crazy how much the game has changed. I used to watch the NBA all the time in college. when NBC had the contract they would have triple and sometimes quadruple headers on Sundays. I'd turn on the tv for background noise while studying and never touch it. That was peak Rockets back then but of course you had Seattle, Phoenix, Utah, Chicago, etc all with super stars. I casually follow online now and am glad Houston is turning things around. Yes, the coach they have now is the real deal and if he keeps his hands to himself they should have sustained success with him. They actually play defense which is rare in this time.

Lebron is the woksst of everyone and is the current face of the NBA. Hopefully it returns to somewhat normalcy once that ass clown retires or gets in trouble for being at the Diddy parties. Steph Curry is the greatest shooter of all time IMO and as great as he is, he was part of the downfall. Everyone thinks they can be him, and they just aren't anywhere close. As someone who grew up a Spurs fan and going to games as a young kid going to the Hemisfair Arena watching Robinson, I stopped watching the NBA once Duncan retired.

I'm not a Rockets fan since I'm a transplant here. But I'm really considering speculating on season tickets (or a share) for next season. Locals haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet, even though they're winning. The Rockets are literally giving tickets away for some midweek games. If they make a little playoff run then the hype will build for next season.

My hesitation though is they still don't have a big name that draws attention from casual fans.

Best place to buy? Just wait last min?

Also - do prices on axs change randomly? Not third party but the ones direct

Yes, they use dynamic pricing like most venues these days so they can fluctuate at any time.

NBA in it's current form is unwatchable, as others have said. It resembles the WNBA.

The 1994 NBA Finals were considered the most boring of that era but the action is incredible compared to today's NBA: Fast breaks, ball flying around, hard drives to the basket, physical defense.

Just watch a couple of minutes, it's so much better than today's NBA:

I get that the constant kickouts and jacking/bricking 3s may not be as enjoyable to some...but the sheer athleticism of the players is on another level from the old NBA yall are referencing. MJ is the greatest and was my favorite player back from when I was a kid. He was athletically superior to most of his peers back in the day...but he wouldn't be in today's league. I appreciate it for what it is.
