My first thought when it happened was a Greenpeace insane freak.

Sorry ya, certainly not Georgia Pacific.

and with it the owner's name and a pretty good idea of who the remains belong to.
I doubt the plates (paper or metal) were readable by the time they got access to it. But with the VIN on the car they can easily find who it belongs to.CDUB98 said:Unless it was one of the paper plate scams.Quote:

To me, it seems much more likely that this was an unintentional accident. If you were a bad actor, there are plenty of places around the east side of Houston where this type of incident would have caused a much larger impact including other "trickle down" impacts to adjacent facilities, infrastructure, etc.CDUB98 said:I know.txags92 said:I doubt the plates (paper or metal) were readable by the time they got access to it. What I mean is, if this were someone intent on doing bad things, then they could easily go to one of those places that basically rent the car and paper plate it. The owner would have no involvement.
OR
As someone said, it could be stolen and used.
I'd much rather in this case, there be no criminal intent and it was just a bad accident, cause if it were intentional, we can expect more carnage.
If the intent was to take out the Gateway line and also the DCP Sandhills line (they are right next to each other in this ROW), that would be ~550,000bpd of y-grade with much of it with no where to go. Lots of upstream impacts on Centra/South/West Texas gas processing and field shut ins. Most those plants only have one outlet for y-grade, and if that is cut off, then shut er down boys. Some could be rerouted on LSX or EPD lines, but not all have that interconnectivity. Point is, if the intent was to cause a large disruption, its not a bad spot to do it, but as you said, there are certainly other spots to do it for a larger impact. Pipelines are easy to repair, but if you do damage to a refining facility, that is months to years. I think this was an accident, but I have been wrong a time or two in my life.YellAg2004 said:To me, it seems much more likely that this was an unintentional accident.
