I'm a real person who just doesn't get on here much. I came back to look at what something I heard about going on in the Brazos County DA race and then saw there was a discussion about the Harris County race. Somebody asked a question about Lykos that I knew the answer to so I chimed in.

The Rangers are working on the case but it still remains under the prosecution of Ogg.
So when Ogg loses the election, the case gets dropped and Lina and crew get off scot-free!
And now you understand the game the other side plays.

Sean Teare: I'm running for DA because my mom was an addict.

Kim Ogg: I want to be reelected cuz my mom was raped in the middle of a Houston street.

WTF?! The 2024 lib equivalent of "My dad can beat up your dad."

Pat Lykos fired nine political enemies. I was one of them! But in retrospect, I'd still take her over Kim Ogg. The reason people hate Ogg (including most of us former career prosecutors who became defense attorneys) is that she prosecuted based cases based on public opinion rather than the law. She's also run off the good and experienced prosecutors who you knew to be honorable and fair at their jobs.

Contrary to popular belief, those of us in the defense bar don't like dealing with inexperienced prosecutors who don't know the law but do know they are scared of their boss. Kim has a bad tendency of charging people because she thinks the public would like it and then avoiding trial on them for years. She then typically loses the case in trial.

Take a look at their win-loss record in trial now. It's terrible. I worked under Johnny Holmes when that office was known for having the best prosecutors in the world. It is sad what it has become.

In my case, the DA put a snot-nosed kid on my family member who needed a public attorney. The case sat for 2 years while the accused has to take care of his family. The facts in the case support the accused, but he decided to take the plea so he could earn a living. It makes prosecutor stats look better, but all it really was, was a victory based on 2 year's attrition, and had nothing to do with justice.

I've written a blog on the Harris County Criminal Justice System since 2008 when I was supporting Kelly Siegler. If you want to see why I think Kim Ogg is the worst District Attorney the county has ever seen, here's a post on it. Apologies in advance, it's really long.

Ogg has always been an R who can't get elected with an R next to her name. That being said, I'm not following this race closely. I don't really have an opinion on either of them.
It's sad that people allow the definition of R to be hijacked and moved that far left.

She is nowhere near an R based on what it stood for in the past.
Ironic coming from someone named Tea Party

Not really. The Tea Party as formulated in 2010 is as close to the roots of the Republican Party as we've seen since Reagan. Those guys like Paul Ryan were the last gasp of Reaganism. Now Ryan and Reaganism are seen as a threat by the Trumpanzees.

Teare yard signs have begun to bloom in the yards of the usual suspects. The house down the street that had up Abortion Barbie signs long after she lost were the first to place them.

so the race is all about abortion? one issue is the deciding factor in a role that doesn't make the laws? okay

Teare spent his Sunday doing what many a white lib politician has done before him......attending black churches to pander for votes.

Attending a church service, especially one where you are not a congregant and never attended before aspiring to higher office, to use the pulpit as a campaign platform for political gain, is gross and legally dubious IMO. I don't know what Sean did or didn't do, but if he's taking a page from Hillary then shame on him.
Murray Newman

There's nothing legally dubious about it and churches (for better or worse) have been part of the political process for longer than any of us have been alive.

Although I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you probably aren't voting in the Democratic primary, on the off chance that you are, I'd offer the following for your consideration:

Sean Teare is a former prosecutor who spent the past several years at HCDA as the chief of vehicular crimes. His job was getting up in the middle of the night to go out to crime scenes involving intoxication manslaughter. He tried cases. He worked with victims and their families. He's promised to rebuild the office back into the reputable agency that it once was.

Kim Ogg has run all of the experience and talent out of that office. They are losing cases right and left that they should be winning. He is going to rebuild it with a focus on violent crime. I'm sorry if you don't like him but if you want a safer Houston, he's the far better choice over Ogg.

Yeah, Fox 26 spun that at Ogg's behest. The complainant in that case committed suicide by stepping in front of a non-intoxicated driver. The other prosecutors handling it wanted it no billed by a grand jury but ultimately it was indicted. They offered a pre-trial diversion to a defendant with no record. Ogg made it political to discredit him.

Anybody advocating for Teare to positively rebuild the DAs office is blatantly lying. Teare is Rodney Ellis hand picked puppet. Reimagining the justice system is exactly what will be happening here in the vision of John Arnold and Rodney.

Ogg is trash but she has gone rogue from Rodney and the COVID contract. He knows he is in deep with that amongst other criminal activity along with Lina. A new DA under his thumb dismisses the investigation. Thats why they want Ogg out.

Always love being called a liar by someone hiding behind a pseudonym but I'm guessing you have no personal knowledge of how the criminal justice system works in Harris County so I'll let it go.

First, I was in Sean's section at UHLC and like him as a person. I was initially excited to hear he was challenging Ogg based on following his career over vehicular crimes. I agree Ogg isn't good and did a ton of harm to the office. But every part of Sean's campaign platform is about running to the left of Ogg- more diversions, more cozy relationship with Hidalgo, hinting that he will not enforce Texas abortion law. I see nothing on bringing back the days of the Johnny Holmes era, which is what we desperately need IMO. Maybe he recognizes that's not a winning platform in Harris Co. these days so he's running a stealth law & order candidacy, but I doubt it.

Second, no, I'm not naturally a democrat voter. But there's hardly a reason for me to cast a ballot in the Republican primary this time, and I don't plan to be a delegate, so I might just cross over to cast a ballot for some democrat incumbents.

Finally, I'm not a neophyte when it comes to operating 501(c)(3) organizations and dealing with political candidates. A church allowing its pulpit to be used as a political platform that favors one candidate over the other absolutely is legally dubious for the church. As in, is breaking the law. Sean as the candidate probably has nothing to worry about that type of in kind contribution. But it's still sleazy (if that's what happened).

Im well aware of how the criminal justice system does not work in my hometown. Are you aware of the political climate in the city? You can read my last post for a quick crash course of the two coinciding.

If I were you, i'd look into changing your username into a pseudonym based upon your ridiculous prediction of Teare's vision for the DA.

Teare is being installed to ensure the corruption of Harris County Democrats continues and that this "reimagined justice system" becomes even worse than the revolving criminal door that it is now.

You just watch after he's elected. Within a year, all investigations in Democrats will be dropped or closed as clean.

Sounds like no matter the candidate, the crime wave from repeat offenders and those on bail won't stop. Addressing abortion issues, whether it's from the media or candidate, is merely deflecting what the real issues are.

Gotta take out the communist, class warfare-enabling judges to move the needle.
