Sean Teare is running against Boss Ogg and, from where it stands right now, it appears he has a ton of democrat support behind him. I would not be surprised to see him win.

Is it simply that Ogg made the democrat establishment mad? From looking at Teare's website, I don't think we will see any downtick in crime with him as DA.

I'm guessing Teare is the new Soros backed candidate. Boss Ogg left the reservation, so her System card has been revoked.

I guarantee he will be worse on crime than Ogg. It almost makes me want to hit the Dem primary just to vote against him.

There's a local defense bar clique that's just as suspect. Goals probably align.
Sean Teare settling a case on his way out the door of the DA'S office to take a job on the defense side is a pretty classic example. They don't all love cameras and juries.

as I mentioned on another thread, the fact that Ogg is now considered too conservative or least not far left enough should scare the absolute piss out of the rest of us.

This reminds me a lot of the LA county DA race a few years ago when I was living out there. Incumbent liberal who was by no means extremely tough on crime beat out by the clown show that is gasgone. As hard to believe LA county became even more of a ****hole than it was before he took over.

Moral of the story, as ****ty as things are right now they can certainly get even worse.

I think y'all are all misreading this. I'm as conservative as they come, and was friends with Sean in law school. Nothing then or since has lead me to believe he is a soft on crime lib/Soros plant. Ogg has deservedly made a lot of enemies in how she has run the office. Just because she wasn't a doormat for Lina Hidalgo doesn't mean she's someone whose career is worth protecting.

Have you read anything on his website. Doesn't exactly seem like a tough-on-crime kinda guy.

Much more like the self-hating white lib who stands for "equity" that will get plenty of additional Houston residents killed by armed minorities who commit a disproportionate share of crimes in this city.

People change, I could be wrong.

If you're thinking of crossing over to vote in the D primary, make sure to support SJL…keep that seat in incompetent hands.

Sadly, this could be very true. She's nothing more than blithering idiot vote right now. A competent, evil Marxist could replace her and cause real damage.

Ogg has always been an R who can't get elected with an R next to her name. That being said, I'm not following this race closely. I don't really have an opinion on either of them.

It's sad that people allow the definition of R to be hijacked and moved that far left.

She is nowhere near an R based on what it stood for in the past.

Teare's campaign is based on emotional nonsense in the midst of unprecedented no-penalty urban violence. He literally could lie about being working with his activist judge buddies in Harris County to curb low bonds and come off better publicly.

Yes Ogg perhaps isn't the best DA but she's definitely the best option if you are against the corruption and policies of Lina Hildago. The only reason Ogg has a Democrat competitor in the in race is because she is standing up to Lina and is investigating her alleged rigging and granting of a multi-million dollar vaccine outreach grant to a "friend" of Lina that didn't have the necessary qualifications. The Feds are investigating and so is Ogg and therefore, Lina and the Democratic party is antsy and wants to eliminate Ogg. On the commercials promoting Teare they actually accuse Ogg of "investigating fellow Democrats" and act like that's a bad thing.

There was a slanderous article recently put out by the Houston Chronicle that is an opinion piece that reads like fact. Lina and the Harris County Democratic establishment is feeling the heat so they are pulling out all stops to suspend any investigation. If I am not mistaken I believe that Teare is/was actually employed by the law firm representing Lina Hildago. It's a dirty mess. Thus any and all conservatives that are tired of Lina's politics and nonsense in general should be pulling for Ogg in this election.

What's with all this corruption in Harris County? Sylvester Turner had some really shady dealings as well.

Pat Lykos fired nine political enemies. I was one of them! But in retrospect, I'd still take her over Kim Ogg. The reason people hate Ogg (including most of us former career prosecutors who became defense attorneys) is that she prosecuted based cases based on public opinion rather than the law. She's also run off the good and experienced prosecutors who you knew to be honorable and fair at their jobs.

Contrary to popular belief, those of us in the defense bar don't like dealing with inexperienced prosecutors who don't know the law but do know they are scared of their boss. Kim has a bad tendency of charging people because she thinks the public would like it and then avoiding trial on them for years. She then typically loses the case in trial.

Take a look at their win-loss record in trial now. It's terrible. I worked under Johnny Holmes when that office was known for having the best prosecutors in the world. It is sad what it has become.

Understood that Ogg isn't the ideal candidate but at least she is supposedly investigating Hildago. I say "supposedly" because nothing has materialized from the DA office or the Feds to date. Perhaps there are bigger fish being caught in the net. The fact that Teare and Hildago are using Ogg's investigation of fellow Democrats against Ogg in campaign ads is all I need to know. It's all dirty politics.

It's a shame what's become of the Harris County Commissioners court.

Didn't the Rangers and state AG take that out of Ogg's hands? By no means am I a fan of hers, but I think she is a bit hands off on the Hidalgo crap right now. Could be wrong though.
