Surprised no one has mentioned KULP from El Campo yet. They stream through their website. Get your morning polka fix too.
Agreed, with a few exceptions (Jamey Johnson, Cody Jinks, some Sturgill etc.)WES2006AG said:
That was a pretty solid station and the only country I listen to. All country made this century is garbage.
Can confirm that they are playing Americana as I've heard American Aquarium, Zach Bryan, and Tyler Childers today. I approve.Chewy said:Has The Ranch gone back to more Texas/Red Dirt country? I moved to Fort Worth in 2006 and 95.9 was my 97.1 up there. They were wonderful for playing and promoting the Texas/Red Dirt scene. It was a great part of living in Fort Worth.cypress-ag said:
Fort Worth has a station that is dedicated to red dirt and Texas Country Artist. 95.9 The Ranch. It is such a shame that the Houston Market has nothing like this at all. They promote artist and shows in the area as well. I hate to say that DFW has a better market for artists and music but it's the truth and I hate all things Metroplex related.
When I moved back to Houston in 2012 I still streamed them quite a bit but they started deviating into more folk and Americana compared to what I would call true Texas/Red Dirt. Lots of obscure artists rather than the Texas/Red Dirt staples most of the time.
I feel like Shane Hollinger was the guy pushing it.
I haven't streamed it in a good 5+ years but it was an awesome station at one point.
Surprised it took this long for SXM to be mentioned. Willies Roadhouse Outlaw Country, Bluegrass Junction, etc. No better variety.Big Cat `93 said:
Willie's Roadhouse on SXM is my saving grace behind the wheel. They played "Peel Me a 'Nanner" last weekend. My dad used to sing the chorus of that song to make my sister and me laugh when I was a kid. I always thought it was something he or someone else in the family made up along the way. Imagine my surprise when I saw the name of the song pop up on the screen.

outlaw country on xm.
Replace the head unit with an HD one or install a cheaper one that has Bluetooth and stream from your phone to your truck.AJ02 said:
I have a 15 year old truck and don't really want to have to spend a lot of money installing a new radio. What are my options for HD?
Just go buy a new truck instead of a new radio. She will still be mad that you got a new radio but you will have a new truck.Chewy said:
I was on Crutchfield last night looking at units. I just upgraded mine about 4 years ago to get Apple CarPlay so I'm pretty familiar with the process.
That unit doesn't fit my truck though.
I was on the couch last night while my wife watched Below Deck. She looked at my screen and asked why I was looking at radios for my truck.
I explained how 97.1 was no longer available in my truck. She then said she'd give me her XM login so I can listen to Prime Country like I force her to do when I'm driving her car. Not precisely what she said but I know what she meant.
I told her to press pause on Below Deck and then told her they're not exactly the same and the emotional attachment I have to 97.1. Country Legends is superior to XM Prime Country.
Still waiting to see if the Budge Committee will approve a new radio for my ride or it's gonna go to Santa for consideration.

I had 97.1 on my preset stations. I liked it better than 100.3 or 92.9.
105.3 Texas Mix is probably my favorite country station around the Houston and B/CS area, but it doesn't always come in clear.

The 106.9 HD stations appear to have gone dark. They aren't even showing up on my radio. Bummer because 106.9-2 was playing some good 80s stuff that I rarely hear anywhere else.

Was hoping there was some sort of portable HD radio I could hook up to the audio jack in my truck to play over the speakers. So I don't have to install an entire unit in the dash.
Is there an app that you can download on your phone that allows you to listen to HD channels for free?

Also, if you have the TuneIn radio app, there are some great stations you can stream for free. Made in Texas Radio is probably my favorite.
