The Titans are wearing the Oilers Luv Ya Blue on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

I'm going to watch. Oh the pain I will feel that has been festering over 25 years, but I will watch nonetheless. I don't watch the Texans or NFL really unless an Aggie is prominent. But the draw of watching a team with the best uniforms in history is too strong.

I remember when Jerry Glanville stated he would rather live in a tent in Atlanta than live in a mansion in Houston. Well **** him. And **** Bud Adams while I'm thinking about it. I hope he's burning in hell watching the 2nd half of '93 Bills Oilers on loop.

Adams should have never been allowed to keep the rights to the Oilers name and colors...Texans should be the Oilers. How did Cleveland manage to keep theirs?

Watching a game just to see uniforms sounds very womanly.

As big of an a**hole as Art Modell was, he did agree to leave the Browns name, colors, and history in their city.

I went to several Oiler games back in my day, grew up singing the fight song. I really couldn't care less about them wearing the old Oiler uniforms. Not one single f.

I was at the rodeo once with my mom after the Oilers had left. During the steer roping competition, Drayton McLane was out there helping the kids and got a nice round of applause. My mom asked me, "What would you do if Bud Adams was out there?" She did not like my answer of "Jump the fence and go try to choke him to death."

As stupid as it is, being that it's merely name and uniform we are talking, I would instantly watch much more Texans football if we went back to the Oilers. Is there ever a chance in hell? If so, it might help re-energize the fanbase. it might be window dressing but it matters to me, and the Texans do nothing and have never done nothing for me. Let's start over again.

Seriously though...how much $$$ would it cost to buy the naming rights? I know nothing about this, but it can't be anything crazy right?

I don't understand why the Texans don't just use those colors and remain the Texans.

Kind of like the Astros going back to orange, this seems like such a no brained to me.

This issue has always fascinated me and as painful as it is, this thread brings me joy to see that I'm not the only one who thinks about this.

I don't know what the answer is, but for the longest time I thought it was simply a matter of fan passion vs apathy. I happened to live in Cleveland for a few years in the late 90's when they were 'between' Browns (old Browns had moved to Baltimore, but the city knew that it was getting new Browns in a couple of years).
I'll never forget their passion - you would've thought they still had a team. There was a weekly newspaper column with updates and opinions about even the most obscure elements of the new team, or facilities, etc - even tidbits about the old team, which they cleverly called 'Raven Droppings'.

I recall thinking that you'd never see this in Houston. I don't know if the word 'apathy' fits - maybe it's that we're too 'polite' - but I just can't imagine seeing the passion and fervor like I did up there.

Houston fans have always struck me as passionate 'in the moment' (like at a baseball/basketball/football playoff or championship moment game frantically waving towels or pulsating pom-poms) but as soon as we lose, or a franchise leaves, or anything negative happens, Houston fans are more likely to shrug and say, "Oh well, that was fun while it lasted…who wants to go eat at Pappasito's?").

As much as I hate the evil Pittsburgh Steelers, this would neeeveerr happen there. The fans simply wouldn't allow it. Ours would applaud some fiery speech from Mattress Mac and then go back to sleep.

The Astros still owns the rights to those colors and logos I believe. Bud Adams' fat f*** a** took the rights to the name, the color, and all team records with him to Tennessee.

Don't forget , he threw a little temper tantrum and in the middle of back to back oil busts Harris County renovated the Astrodome for him, adding additional seats, that he (as best I recall) NEVER sold out. This also cost the Dome that old classic bad ass scoreboard.

Anyone hoping to see the Houston Texans pay tribute to the city's NFL past with Oilers throwback uniforms is out of luck.
Titans owner Amy Strunk Adams recently put an end to any and all speculation.
"Very interesting, except the Oilers don't have anything to do with the Texans," Adams Strunk said in an interview with Paul Kuharsky. "So that's a hard no."

ABC 13 said Bud's rotten fruit from crappy tree daughter said Uh had to, among other things, purge any reference to those uniforms from social media.

Anyone with an Insta or X should make certain she sees those posted in her feed EVERYDAY!!!

I saw somewhere that she's demanding UH remove all references and photos of these uniforms from all their social media. We need to join in solidarity with our Cougar High friends on this matter and spam every Titan, NFL, UH, and Adams social media account with all the pics we can.

Fck them haters.

Nah, I can't get on board with this. I respect the law, or the licensing or trademark or whatever is relevant here.

I realize and fully accept that my burning desire that the Houston NFL football team someday wear Columbia blue and have that fantastic oil derrick logo is based 100% in nothing but emotion and nostalgia and I have not one shred of legal basis for expecting it to happen. But man I wish it would.
