Wow I used to listen to him on the way to school. I still remember his lyrics to one of his songs..."Cuz she's a Texas *****, she's young and rich, and she never has to pay her own way. Her Daddy's into oil and gas, she never has to work she just sits on her ass....." I didn't realize he was that young back then. Too bad his partner Matthews turned out to be a pederast.

Loved Moby's one-liners.

"From Pasa-Get-Down-Dena"….

"A song from John Cougar… I mean, John Mellencamp… I mean John Cougar Mellencamp… Or John Mellen CougarCamp…"

Radio legend. I listened everyday. And man did he get away with countless comments about Hannah Storm's "tatas" as he called them during her years at the station.
RIP Moby.

I can remember getting in trouble for repeating this line after hearing it from Moby.

Following a brief run in mornings at Classic Rock "Z93" WZGC Atlanta, he would complete his career with a self-syndicated morning show focused on small southern towns that lasted for twelve years until his retirement at the end of 2016.
That's pretty cool, never knew.

80's Houston radio was awesome:

Moby
Stevens & Pruett
Dana Steele
Loch Sebenhousen (or whatever his name was)
Lanny 'The Traffic Master' Griffin
Outlaw Dave
Who was the nighttime guy on 101KLOL who went by 'Sergeant' or something like that?

{Heavy sigh} Them were the days…

I confess I loved the Q Morning Zoo and John Landers when I was in junior high. But by the time you got to high school, 93Q FM &79Q AM were for babies.
You moved up to 97 Rock & 101 KLOL.

'Member 93Q also had Mr. Leonard?? "Mista LenAHHD"!

Yes.

He once introduced Cheap Trick's "She's Tight" by saying: "I don't think they're singing about her spending habits."

In a shoebox somewhere, I still have my Rock n Roll Army membership card. Col. St. James was the leader of the Army.

It is like this one.

I carried it in my Velcro surf wallet made by Lightning Bolt back in the day.

I still sing that in my head when I hear that traffic lights are out.

Or if I drive up to an actual four way stop.

I was telling my son this story over the summer.

A couple of weeks later we approach an intersection with all of the lights out, and he sings "Treat it as a 4-way stop!"
