If you are going to cookoff for the concerts, you are doing it wrong.
I'll probably grab a couple beers and wander over for Great Divide for a couple songs since I've never seen them, but that's it.

I have seen Cowie open for Creager before. He is pretty good. Did a great cover of a Turnpike song.

It's horses, but yes, this weekend-Saturday and Sunday in NRG Arena. Everyone is welcome to come watch, it's a great event.

1PM on Saturday til 6ish, then 8AM til about 5 on Sunday. Just depends on how fast we get through all the classes.
It's cookoff time! Pits were dropped off this morning. Knock on wood, looks like next week's weather is going to be great.
My son is competing. It's his first time. I'm excited but nervous for him.
Was just out there to get ready for setup tomorrow. Almost forgot how much I miss it

Just wanted to give kudos to TXAG 05 and his Special Children's Committee for a great experience at the Top Hands Horse Show this past weekend. My 9-year-old son competed in 3 events, English Trail, English Equitation, and Barrels. He was diagnosed with Autism at 4 and ADHD at 6. My son's equine-assisted occupational therapists are also on the committee, and they suggested that we participate after attending last year.
Horse shows are completely foreign to us since we haven't been exposed to them before. But from start to finish, our family had a positive experience. You could really tell that the people there, from the mascots to the bigwigs presenting awards to the snack table, really cared about each family and wanted them to have a great time.
One example was near the end yesterday, my son was having a hard time after his final event, and he didn't want to have his picture taken after getting his medal. The gentleman presenting his award was very gracious and knew exactly when to take a step back and let him have his space.
Thank you to TXAG 05 and his team. This is definitely something our family will do again.

I haven't been to the rodeo in years and we're going to see Zac Brown. My understanding is that the performance starts at 9:00. Do most people tend to get there around 7:00 - 8:00 ? I'm trying to get an idea as to when the traffic is at its peak.

The rodeo starts at 6:45. Zac Brown should have a pretty big crowd so I'd get there as early as you can. The concert will start around 9 although last year they started closer to 9:30 on a lot of nights. It just depends on how quickly they get through the events.
From 4:00 on the traffic and gates get worse by the hour. I have found that if you can get down there by 5:30 it is a lot easier to park and you can enjoy the grounds and food. Rodeo will start at 6:45 and the concert around 9:00. Most begin the enter the rodeo between 7:30-8:30. Hope this helps.
- Weekday rodeos start at 6:45 p.m. The entertainer takes the stage at approximately 9 p.m. NRG Stadium gates open at 6 p.m.
It's a Thursday, so there will be normal 610 South Loop traffic from about 4:30PM and on backed up from 288 in either direction, plus the rodeo traffic piling up after 5.
And avoid Main Street coming out of downtown. It's a parking lot with bad red lights. I made that mistake just trying to get to a dinner party in the subdivision near the stadium. Nightmare of delays.
