Can't speak to rodeo tickets but I was trying to buy a single Lyle Lovett ticket at red rocks last summer. Their piece of **** website kept telling me that I couldn't buy the ticket cause it was leaving a single seat left even though it was the only unsold ticket on the entire row. After waiting on hold like 30 minutes the guy on the other end tried to claim it was the venue's fault.

Ya that is very common and is up to the venue. Astros tickets are like that and they aren't AXS. You can't leave a single seat on a row. So if there are 3 tix left on a row you either can buy 1 or 3 but not 2.

Yup seen that many times. Difference here being the seat I was trying to buy was literally the only seat not sold on the entire row.

I'm thinking about splurging and buying a couple Action Seats for one of the shows. Does that area still come with free food & water/sodas? It has probably been 15 years since I've sat there. Does anyone know what type of food/snacks comes with the seats?

Unless it's changed, it's like hot dogs, chips, popcorn, candy bars, etc.

The times I've been the last couple of years it's been chipped beef sammiches or tacos. Nothing amazing but enough to fill you up with something of substance over just snacks.

The only thing that sucks about the action seats is you have to use the bathroom on the concourse so it's a haul and you're the last to get out of the lower level if you wait to the end of the show.

Edit - there are standard chips and snacks like referenced. I think there's also a "nacho bar" that's really just stadium grade chips and cheese.

You say stadium grade chips and cheese like it's a bad thing. Rico's nacho cheese is the only way to fly.

Look here, pardner. Maybe we have different standards.

In my world, just because they call it cheese, don't make it queso.

I bought a can of Rico's at Foodarama one time to try to replicate the experience. Turns out you really have to be drunk in a crowd to fully appreciate Rico's.

What are reservations going for to the big white tent restaurant next to the Dome this year?

Pretty sure the reservations are free unless they have a special event like when Rip from Yellowstone was there

Nothing like a bunch people playing cowboy for fun clamoring to hang out with a guy who plays cowboy for a living.

Are they ever going to announce the entertainment lineup for the Cook-off??

I don't think it has ever been this close with no entertainers listed...

Cook-off entertainment varies by tent. Good luck.

Better than me, between the hideout and the wine garden Django Walker is the only one I recognize.

Does the committeeman gold badge allow you to get into the club level for the concerts or do you need a ticket for that?

Yeah I was asking about the main stage for the cook-off.

Also, other than Django there is Sundance Head and that is it for me...

The wine garden never has anyone you'd recognize unless you hang out in the wine garden a lot, mostly bands that ply a lot of covers.

Nobody goes to the hideout anymore, way too crowded.

Yeah, I randomly saw Sundance yuckin' and pluckijn' at Cedar Creek one day, and he talked about being Roy Head's son. Otherwise, I'd have no idea.

My guess is with so many small stages around the grounds now, they're just going the cheaper route of hiring cover bands that play corporate parties or whatever, instead of hiring acts that can normally headline clubs or mid-level venues on their own.

The Hideout used to be a mix of B and C level names, maybe some that had one or two singles like Lee Roy Parnell or something, or were big in Texas. The last few years, I haven't known a single name and every singer looked to be in their 20's. Haven't been too disappointed by anyone in the Hideout recently, it's just been generic country bands that could be playing a wedding or company party in Katy the next weekend.

Gretchen Wilson put on a great show in there about 10-15 years ago.

Gary P Nunn used to be a guarantee, but he hasn't been there for a long time.

Yea was gonna mention Gary P was always there. Also I seem to recall Cory Morrow & Roger Creager headlining there often as well.

Now that they do the Cookoff Main Stage and other cookoff tents, they don't do the Hideout.

Where did you get that line up for cook off?

Edit: Never mind - found it on the HLSR site... finally

So last year we had Roger Creager, Kevin Fowler and Reckless Kelly and this year we get Wade Bowen? I like Wade, but past him there isn't much.

Granted, I have heard more of these then the Hideout list, but it is still pretty weak. They all probably sound great, but don't have a big following.

They might have to give merch away...
