Quanell just gave a passionate plea on live tv to get the boy some help to get off the drugs and that the mother should be jailed immediately.

It sounds like it's a little more complicated than that and the kid was abused/controlled in multiple ways. I don't think it's a case of the mushrooms simply making him want to bang his mom. I'm just saying I can see how the drugs played a part.
There's obviously a lot more to it than just shrooms.
Why would this kid ask for quanell to be there as a mediator with the cops
Q is a leader in the community and may have been approached or may have offered his services since the kid didn't have a voice.

Quanell is a businessman. He charges people for mediation or press relations, and collects rewards when available. It's not always obvious when he's being paid and when he's not.
