Anyone have any recs for speakeasys or hidden bars in Houston? I've read about a couple (Capt. Foxhearts, FAO) but haven't ventured out to try any of them. Looking for something off the beaten path.

Haven't been to Meo Bar on Airline, but it's on the list.
Not sure if Kanpai Cluc counts as a speakeasy but it's a tiny cool bar.
We know. We've all been there when you're out of town.NoahAg said:
Mine is extremely exclusive and hard to get to. Literally no one can find it. It's called My Backyard.
C'mon man. TexAgs didn't exist until 1939, when Ag fans needed a place to complain about Homer Norton's all-run offense.FtBendTxAg said:

This. They're also opening a speakeasy bar in the same location in the next few weeks (or it may already be opened).cypress-ag said:
Permission on White Oak is a great little place for a date night drink or hanging out with friends.

Coach Norton could have called one pass play and I'm still upset that Santa Clara scored 3 points.Booma94 said:C'mon man. TexAgs didn't exist until 1939, when Ag fans needed a place to complain about Homer Norton's all-run offense.FtBendTxAg said:

Not gonna lie, this was a pretty cool little date spot back in the day. Blew my wife's mind first time I took her there.

And then she blew yours upstairs on those couches, right? Jk, I loved that place too. Used to live right around the corner of it. Always fun to walk over and hang with the girl at the time. Always fun people watching.
This place was purchased a few years ago. It sucks now.Brittmoore Car Club said:Ag_07 said:

100% correct, went in there exactly 1 time since the turnover, and it was flat awful. The look/feel was bad enough, and then the server mentioned bottle service, and we turned around and left. 0 stars, do not recommend!Tex117 said:This place was purchased a few years ago. Everything that was cool about it got choked out (not in the good way) of it by people who didn't understand what it was about in the first place.
Wife and I went upstairs maybe once, and yeah there were a few people mugging down, and I hope they santized the seat cushions. But the actual bar/1st floor area was pretty cool and unique back around 2008-2011 and we always enjoyed it. Only an idiot would give it a complete overhaul, which it sounds like is what happened. The whole allure was that it was a mysterious little unmarked place in the side of a building that you could take people to and surprise them. My wife thought I was taking her through the back of a restaurant the first time we went.Microwave Onions said:
That place was one local legend I never had any interest in attending. The way old people talked about it, it sounded like the sanitary conditions of Treasures but without any guarantees of service. And with much older people lingering around.
