Sometimes it's hard to tell who is really invested in topic, and who is simply verbose.

Boiled shrimp being a lazy way to prepare a great dish is a pretty good addition to the collection of Tine bird weird food snobberies.

I gotta agree with this and Schmelba and I are usually fairly well aligned in opinion. Properly boiled or steamed seafood is both hard to come by and can be exactly what TxTransplant is talking about RE the simplest of preparations.

Much like a proper scrambled egg, sometimes simple is best, yet still requires a deft hand.

I agree with this. I love seafood and to me houston is severely lacking considering it's proximity to the coast.

While I enjoy babins, pappedeux and similar everything at those places imo is too heavy. I don't need all the dishes covered in frozen crawfish and thick heavy sauces that cover the flavor of the fish.

Goode company used to be my place but it seems they shrunk the menu a couple years back and they took away a lot of the fresh dishes I used to enjoy.

Sorry but that's a completely asinine assertion. If you claim you can't find good seafood in Houston your judgment on all foods is automatically suspect.

To get in the wayback machine it's like in the movie "Back to School" where Rodney Dangerfield's character, Thornton Mellon has Kurt Vonnegut write his English paper on Kurt Vonnegut and gets an F as the prof said that whoever wrote it didn't know the first thing about Vonnegut. And you're the prof here.

Feel free to list then in Houston where I can get some fresh seafood that's not covered in a Cajun cream sauce or served with frozen crawfish. I'm all ears. I always see people lists BB's, pappaduex, babins, etc. while I enjoy those places, that's not my preferred style of seafood.

Like I said I used to love some of the fresh seafood dishes at Goode co but they cut a ton of the old menu items off there current one.

I'll also add that pier 6 in San Leon serves my style of seafood. I love that place but it isn't in Houston. They have some great dishes on there menu.

Bludorn, navy blue, Goode co, pappas, la fisheria, liberty kitchen, trulucks, Oceanaire, Christie's (fried shrimp), Eddie V's…..

Also, yall do know Pappadeaux will prepare any fish on their menu however you'd like, right? Just because they may be featuring a red fish in a crawfish sauce doesn't mean you can't get plain red fish……

Apparently, it's easier to find swingers than decent seafood in the Woodlands.

Lol. The "tuna" is fresher too, ironically.

Reminds me of when we went to a wedding reception at Ocean Palace when the wife was pregnant with #1. They were doing dim sum and brought out a fish with the head still on. Wife got up and ran to the bathroom. She made me get her Whataburger on the way home.

We're in Lafayette for fathers day and took a ride down to Delcombre. Got 10lb head on shrimp fresh off the boat… now that's fresh seafood.

Don't season them too much! They won't be perfect!
