I prefer @tx_streetfights posts. It's basically fights on 6th St in Austin but very high quality videos.

I'm truly shocked that no kniveswere pulled in that one.

Wish I could see how it started. Look like there were bikes on the ground.

Btw, any of yall been to 6th street in recent years? I've heard it's unrecognizable compared to the 90's, but haven't seen for myself.
In the 90's, were there attractive coeds, good music and a chill atmosphere? Or was it predominantly dudes, thugs, drugs, street takeovers, fights, and a trashy or tense atmosphere? Because that was the direction things were trending between 2002 and 2012 in my experience. Last time I was in the area was 2020 for a rehearsal dinner and we made a point to be out of there before 9pm.

Last time I was on 6th Street was 2000. Even that night, right as we were leaving the venue, we were ushered back inside as some groups of thugs were squaring up outside.

It was f-ing awful when we went a few years ago. Just felt like a powder keg of bad sh** waiting to happen. West 6th was trash too, but felt a little safer at least. I miss the Austin of the 90's and early 2000's. That's never coming back.

We've been a few times over the past 6 years, all pre covid though so not sure how much it has changed since. However 6th St was tolerable before 11pm or so. We found that Rainey St was much more tolerable and laid back.

Is 4th still a thing? I know a lot of the older 20's and 30-somethings were going to 4th Street in the late 90's when I would visit friends and family.

Not sure. We did not go to it. Was there for a couple small "bachelor parties" and just stuck to 6th earlier in the night and moved over to Rainey for later bar hopping. Was enjoyable.

Just stick to West 6th or Rainey St.

Other option is places of S Congress or S Lamar

I was on 6th street recently. I did not fear for my life. I was with three other alpha males though so maybe that's why.

Another example of kids outta control. I went to Klein Oak, a long time ago, but I'm not sure I'd send my kids there now.

My daughter goes to Oak now. Overall, it's still a pretty good school, but you can definitely see the tide turning. I go to plenty of sporting events (football and baseball, namely), and the majority of the families/players are good kids. Like I said, the tide is definitely turning, however.

This person who assaulted the teacher has been expelled and is facing a felony charge.

My daughter told me that all of the APs are monitoring at all times, there have been more cops on campus today, and there is someone monitoring all bathrooms.

But, on a serious note, it is a bit sad to see an officer have what looks to be a mental breakdown.

Showed it to a buddy that is LEO and he thinks the constable is probably sitting in the truck waiting for HPD to come get the guy since that is their jurisdiction.

Ahh, thanks.

I interpreted what Mr. Mane was saying as the Constable got out of his vehicle buck ass nekkid.
Texaggie7nine
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That's what he is saying, but perhaps he's just assuming it's the constable and made the statement that he got out of the vehicle then disrobed.

Dang, that definitely ain't sherm imo because pretty sure the guy would be moving. Appears to be a psychotic episode for sure.

White/brown/black, wealthy/homeless...that is something I wouldn't wish on anyone. Hope he can get help.

Can't help but laugh at the commentary though.

6th street story, because everyone has one. A buddy and I went to a conference in Austin and were staying at the Driskill on 6th. We proceeded to get really drunk one night at the piano bar on 6th. Decided we were hungry before we went back to the hotel and got pizza from someplace there on 6th. Proceeded to sit down on the sidewalk and eat our pizza. I sat the open box down and some lady was walking her dog at 1am, Damn dog decided to do a drive by and got our last two pieces of pizza.

My buddy who is from Hearne, came unglued and started hollering at the lady that we were hungry and had spent our last money on that pizza. It was true, as we had spent our last cash on the pizza after paying a hefty bar tab. We sat back down and started laughing. People started walking by and putting money in the empty pizza box. Mind you we were both dressed in business casual and clean cut. One guy threw a $20 in our box and asked us why we were down on our luck. My buddy didn't miss a beat and said, "F'ing Enron, man." We collected about $70 bucks sitting there and proceeded to go buy more pizza and drink on the rest the next night.

Could not get away with that on 6th now. Good times in the late 90's-early '00's.
