Witnessed something y'all might like, given this board's appreciation for the Tine's best and brightest being oh-so-respectful out in the community.

I went to Shipley Donuts this morning to pick up a couple dozen donuts for me to hog down to cheer up some folks. In front of me was some guy who had apparently bought a half dozen donuts for himself. He ate four of them, then decided he didn't want the last two. He had come back to the store to return the two donuts he wasn't going to eat.

The clerk looks at him like the moron he is and just says no. He starts to argue with her about it and slaps the box down and opens it to emphasize those two donuts, specifically, are the ones she needs to take back because he is not going to eat them. I caught a glimpse of them and it looked like he had fingered them both to death. He just could not comprehend why she would not give him his money back for uneaten donuts.

I guess he was an ubereats driver or something because he started threatening that he would no longer deliver for them if she didn't give him his money back. When she told him it didn't affect them if he stopped delivering (because someone else would), he started yelling at her and causing an even bigger scene. All the while, the line has backed up to about 12-15 customers. She finally offered him $2 to go away, which he took as she threw the two donuts in the trash.

Last time I was in a Shipley's it was packed to the gills during weekend breakfast rush hour, and a Jamie Lee Curtis looking lady was waiting her turn in line in front of me, but then it turned out she was not there at all to buy donuts, but to ask about what they do with the donuts they don't sell at the end of the day, while only getting a quizzical look from the cashier wanting to take her order. While this continued as I was ordering at the next available cashier, it seemed she moved on to who she could contact in "management" who would handle them giving food for charity. As I left, I took a glance and there seemed to be many waiting in line who were not pleased.

I very strongly resisted the urge, unlike last week when some Karen was ripping into a line cook's ass about how she was paying 75 cents for mushrooms on her omelette and he had not given her a satisfactory number of mushrooms. I handed her a dollar and told her the mushrooms were on me so the cook didn't have to deal with her any more and the line could get moving. She threw my dollar at my face, but got her ass away from the cook.

I don't know if people are getting worse or if I'm just noticing these things more.

When the entire Modernity Machine is raising people with the promise that only feelings are truth, this is what you get.

It gets worse. Happy to help.

Oh, and our righteous and justifiable anger is their litmus test to solidify this belief. Brilliant psychology. Almost installed on purpose like a software program.

This whole thing reminded me of an assistant I had a few years ago. Her and her husband would go on cruises all the time and she bragged about how her strategy was to *****, moan, whine, and complain about EVERYTHING on the cruise. She said more often than not the cruise companies would throw freebies, vouchers, etc. at customers just to shut them up. I guess it worked out for her because she went on a cruise 3 or 4 times a year.

I just can't imagine being that sleazy.

People have zero shame. Just take a 5 minute walk around any domestic airport and you will quickly realize that.

Sleazy? Put that aside… how is that anything but a miserable vacation for anybody?

I'm an apple fritter man.
Sidebar: RTT, you need to make the drive one morning to Karma Kolache in Cypress/Copperfield area. The apple fritters there put Shipley's to shame.

Maybe he can work it in on his weekly trip to the Cypress trombone district.

Did you ever think of that?

I already spend enough time in Conroe and Fort Bend as it is. Actually, an orchestra in Tomball recently tried to recruit me, but I can't take one more gig a week so far away.

Their donuts (and assorted other whatnots) really are the Best. I live within walking distance of that place, which is dangerous.
