Looking for a place to have a nice dinner for 10-15 people. Prefer to have a private room. Have called a couple places and they're quoting $1500 just for the room, not food/drink minimum. Anyone know a place without a charge for the room itself? Without a food/drink minimum? Any help is appreciated!

Backstreet? Pretty sure they just have a minimum. Maybe restaurants are adding a fee because of lack of staff?

We went to Maison Pucha for a birthday. 10 people and we happened to get the private wine room even though we didn't ask in advance.
3 nice bottles of wine (about $100 each) and appetizers to share. Bill was about $1,150 after the included gratuity.

Used Masraff's on a few occasions and I believe they only had a food and drink minimum, but that was at their old Post Oak location. I haven't been to the new location at I-10 and Bunker Hill, but the website says they have private rooms. Definitely worth checking out. Service and food were always outstanding.
Just about any nice restaurant in Houston.

Vic & Anthony's. The boardroom has a $2000 min, but as long as you hit the min ticket there's no charge for the room. We do it for Christmas with my wife's family every every year.

We've gotten the room in Piatto Ristorante a few times for just the bill. The owner is a Carabba and walks around talking to the guests, and if he knows you're an Ag, he'll sit and chat because the family is from B/CS.
Try Bludorn.
Try Elliot's Table on TC Jester. Small place that will likely let you have the whole interior or not even open up for other guests with a group of 15. We have had groups of 6-8 several times and sat on the side patio. Always had friendly service and the food has been outstanding.
Pre-pandemic we had work functions in private areas at Ousie's Table, Field & Tides and Guard and Grace. I wasn't paying, so no idea if there was separate charge for room. I don't think F&T did, because we arranged it fairly last minute.
Shhh... don't tell people about this place...
