You could do a sales committee, something like souvenir programs or an auction committee. It doesn't become about hours worked, but money raised, and you can do that on your own time off from work. Or join one of the committees that do all their work throughout the year instead of just in March. There is usually a committee for anyones schedule, it's just a matter of finding the right fit for what works for you.

This is great advice. There just so happens to be a chairman of an auction committee on this website….
Who didn't see my ask for help finding a rookie to give money to…

I have kind of been busy. When did I miss that?

No biggie. Had new buyers that wanted to help badge a rookie if you had any that needed it. Just didn't know how to get in touch. They ended up going through a veteran we both know because it was too close to crunch time with last turn in this week.

You got a new buyer, kids get more money, all is still right in the world!

See you this weekend!

We handed out 750 hot dogs to the kids yesterday and giving the turkey exhibitors chick fill A today. I'm about to head over to do turkey soft. Our presale #s look real strong. Going to be a fun Saturday for sure. The kids have been wonderful to be around.

we did $2.3 Saturday and a total of $2.8 right now. Still have through May to sale the poultry meat packages. Once everything gets entered we will be very close to $3 million.

The Fannin Park and Ride isnt a bad option if you want to cut out some walking. The light rail ticket is included in parking and it drops you off at NRG Center. And its not a hassle to get back to the lot if you aren't sticking around for the concert to end.

We arent even going to actual rodeo, just the day time stuff

I'm aware. NRG Center is where the indoor kid-friendly exhibits are at. NRG Stadium is where the rodeo is at. It might save you money to not spend all of the time at the carnival

In true cheap ass fashion we are going on family day where kids are free and rides and games are only $2

Nothing wrong with that! It is really easy to spend a lot of money out there. Between parking and grounds passes, you are out a lot of money before you ever get in.

How old are your kids? If they are little, I would do the rail. It drops you off close to all the little kid rides/pettingzoo etc.

All are under 6. Where is that lot? Is there a gate right there to buy passes? I assume there is but want to be sure. How far is that from the arena? Thanks for the info man, I appreciate it.

Good luck with that. I made that mistake about 5 years ago and swore I'd never do it again. It's worth the extra scratch to buy tickets and go on a non-free day.

Yea probably will regret it but we are going to get there at like 830. Our schedule is insane right now with a move and other insanity so we are trying to get in where we fit in. I'm sure I'll regret it about 10 minutes after we arrive.

The lot is at 1604 W Bellfort St, Houston, TX 77054

The train drops you off at the corner of Fannin and NRG Pkwy. There are booths to buy passes and tickets where the train drops you off. There is a tram to drive you from The entrance to the NRG Arena if thats where you want to go

The yellow lot may be the only parking lot open for you that early. You can download the Rodeohouston app and get the current parking lot status and openings. There's a lot of info on that app.

Definitely download the app. It's come a long way. It has maps, schedules of the daily events, etc.

What time does the carnival open Wednesday the 16th?

That's the day we're going. Guess it just happens to be the cheap day. Looks like it opens 11am???

The Junction area (geared for little kids) opens at 11, the rest of the carnival opens at noon.

I'm confused on parking for the concert tonight. We do not have a parking pass but don't mind paying to park in the closest lot available. Have not been in several years.
Any recommendations?

Same here. Lucked into floor seats but no parking pass. Probably just go the Astroworld and walk option but still curious

Yellow lot, or 610 lot are your best bet. $20, and be prepared to walk if the tram lines are long, and they will be. Download the HLSR app, and there's lots of information on it.

I have never understood the parking issues at nrg. Someone remind me why they can't park a few thousand vehicles inside the astrodome. Would gladly pay up for a closer parking place. Tried the tram years ago and had a loooooong wait to get back to the truck.

We are staying at the Blossom Hotel off of Bertner. Any ideas what would be best for us?
