Les never got over the fact that the Aeros owner (Chuck Watson) had operating rights to The Summitt which meant the Rockets had to pay rent to the Aeros until the Toyota Center was built.Coog97 said:F*** Les Alexander.cajunaggie08 said:They removed the ice plant after the teamMr.Bond said:Ah ok. He cost Houston an NHL expansion team in the late 90s, then forced out the Aeros, all over petty grudges.
I think this story has real legs.themissinglink said:

Good morning to my fellow Houston hockey fans! I just listened to the first few minutes of the 32 Thoughts podcast (the most reputable hockey podcast IMO) and this Dan Friedkin news is LEGIT

Fertitta has never been serious about the NHL. But the Friedkins are loaded and have been on a serious sports buying spree.

Considering Friedkin is a pilot, founded an organization called the Air Force Heritage Flight Foundation, and performed flying stunts for the movie Dunkirk, I'd say he would LOVE the idea of his hockey team being named the Aeros. I don't think it would be difficult at all to get the rights to it. I believe the Minnesota Wild org owns the rights and they have no use holding on to it.EclipseAg said:
Wonder how Friedkin feels about the Aeros name/logo, and how difficult it would be to get rights to it?
I feel like some of these NHL expansion teams have dropped the ball -- er, puck -- by passing over local minor-league names that had real history.
I did not know all that! Bodes well for the Aeros name.cajunaggie08 said:Considering Friedkin is a pilot, founded an organization called the Air Force Heritage Flight Foundation, and performed flying stunts for the movie Dunkirk, I'd say he would LOVE the idea of his hockey team being named the Aeros. Not bad but there was something about the bomber coming out the puck that really made the Aeros logo pop. The star in the "O" was pretty cool, too.TRIDENT said:

Can you even post on the tine board if you don't know that it's called Columbia BlueSea Speed said:
I vote no to Carolina blue on the aeros logo. That hunter green is absolutely perfect for that logo. The blue makes the plane look washed out. The aeros logo is one of the best sports logos ever. Don't muck it up.

Either way, I'm digging out all my old Aeros gear and showing up. I'm sure that 30-year old replica still fits.Sea Speed said:

Friedkin already owns AS Roma and just bought Everton. Makes sense.themissinglink said:
