Is there currently a Bus from Houston to A&M football games, or a carpool group? There used to be Starline Gameliner, but it doesn't appear to be functioning anymore.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Make sure you don't hire the bus company driver that left his passengers stranded in Hempstead @ 2:15 AM, after he was arrested for DWI on the way back to Houston from the Alabama game.

They have a live show during the ride tooMilwaukees Best Light said:
I saw some short films about a small business that goes around and picks up folks with transportation issues and delivers them to a destination. Check them out. They might be able to help out some in your group. Bang bus.

And the toughest part of the drive. That gameday traffic leaving college station is no jokeMr. AGSPRT04 said:XMinus1 said:

Impressive he got halfway home in that state of being.
Thanks young Ag, I'll check it out. I guess the name means "More bang for the buck, eh?" Sounds like the perfect way to take my grandkids and some folks from church to see Aggieland. I'm not good with videos, so I'll post a note on Facebook to let them all know to look for "Bang Bus" videos.Milwaukees Best Light said:

I believe the Vonlane group may do Aggie trips. Have used them before to Dallas and Austin as an alternative to flying and it's not bad as a business option. Pick up is downtown Houston so not sure if that's helpful for you.

Just one or two pickup spot along 290 then? Bus leaves Karbach for the game, makes one stop at the outlet malls on 99. That'd put it in range for the vast majority of Houstonians to Uber to the pickup/dropoff spot if they plan on getting wasted.PlanoAg98 said:Quote:

It's amazingly hard to get the interest in such a bus. Dallas works since everyone in the Dallas area would heading straight thru downtown Dallas en route to College Station. Therefore, stopping 30 minutes into that trip to get on the bus is easy. Plus, the bus trip is still 3 hours from downtown Dallas.
Houston on the other hand has people coming from south, north, central Houston. All of these have separate routes (290, 249, 105). Also it's only 1.5 hours from downtown Houston. It's not worth your while to drive 30-45 minutes off your route for a 1.5 hour trip. Also, multiple pick up stops around would take 1 - 1.5 hours in itself.
Try it out. The Auburn weekend should give you plenty of time. My recommendation is for everyone to pre-pay via PayPal for an RSVP. $40/person round trip @ 50 seats/bus will give you a budget for a nice bus. Feel free to read though the Dallas bus page for hints.Quote:

There were one or two threads attempted at discussing the idea in years past, and you couldn't two Ags in the same neighborhood to agree on a reasonable pick-up spot, let alone enough to charter a bus. Plano pretty much summed it up earlier.Quote:

But wait! Let's spend billions on a high-speed railroad to connect Northwest Mall to Roans Prairie. Aggies everywhere would totally pay $200/ea for a ticket to ride on game day.PlanoAg98 said:

that train isnt for us pleebs. Its for the business travelers who can expense it to the corporate account. I kind of get them attempting to add an A&M stop to get college students and football fans to use it. But unless that shuttle from Roans Prairie to College Station is subsidized by the train company, it will be a net loss for whoever is running it.Mr. AGSPRT04 said:But wait! It turns out stopping at the Roans Prairie site for travelers is secondary. It's really for the location of the trains' storage/maintenance site. Not enough real estate at the ends of the line in Dallas or Houston.cajunaggie08 said:that train isnt for us pleebs. Its for the business travelers who can expense it to the corporate account. the cops are probably not going to release the bus to someone that has no legal right to possess it and probably doesn't have a license to drive such a vehicle.Chewy said:
I guess no one in the group was sober or courageous enough to see if they could drive that bad boy the rest of the way to Htown?
Sucks that happened but that's kind of a cool topper for a great game at Kyle if you could get your money back.
I guess for that bus driver Highway 6 did indeed go both ways for him that evening.
