im good. I ordered 50' of PEX and a couple of sharkbite couplers. Should be a 10 minute job when those arrive. Then a couple of bonus fake 2x4 studs and a strip of Sheetrock and I'm done.third coast.. said:
What do you need, might be able to help in the interim

Good deal, if you're gonna need to fix a burst pipe thats about as painless as it gets, outside of what we had happen:
what is that line? Is that a feed to a sprinkler system?

No its a custom job that the previous home owners put in that goes to another spigot in the backyard so they could have water back there.
I have the exact same setup, hose bib and down pipe , which is piped to another bib about 100 ft behind my house next to a tree so I have water in my far back yard....Proc92 said:third coast.. said:

I'm noticing a lot of people with copper piping break. Obviously no PEX breakage but any of my fellow galvanized piping people out there break?

Is it a gate or ball valve?Ranger #007 said:
We had about a half inch split in a hot water line in the attic. I was able to shut off the water going into the hot water heater so we could at least stop having to go get buckets of water out of the neighbor's pool to flush the toilets.
For some reason it's still dripping here and there. We've got a bowl underneath it but when I went up there last night to check it had started dripping quick. I'm not sure what the deal is there. We've cleared out as much water from the hot side as would come on but after a while there's more. I don't know if the valve's not closing all the way or is it possible cold water's making it's way back up the hot water side since there's no pressure?
Appointment wise, we were supposed to have been on a schedule Wednesday, then Thursday, then yesterday, and now we've got two saying middle of next week and one that said we were number 50 on their list and they'd be out in a few days. It's at least bearable so long as I can keep some water coming in. Now if this boil order can just go away.
That's a gate valve. There's a rubber seal that wears out allowing a small amount of water to pass by. You can replace the rubber washer fairly easily. I'm sure there are plenty of youtube videos.Ranger #007 said:
Not sure to be honest. It's a straight piece of pipe with a knob like an outdoor hose spigot.

That's PVC not CPVC.

Anyone finding plumbers not having supplies to make full repairs? Had a major plumbing company come out to assess - they are capping people and such to get them water back but can't make proper repairs. Looks like we may have a break in our main line where it comes in the house and maybe IN the foundation (that sounds fun to fix), but they don't have supplies to do anything about it now. Wondering if I should keep waiting on others or if there is any point. We have water as our main shut off in the house apparently doesn't actually shut off water to the vast majority of the house...just our laundry room where the valve is located.
