What do you need, might be able to help in the interim
im good. I ordered 50' of PEX and a couple of sharkbite couplers. Should be a 10 minute job when those arrive. Then a couple of bonus fake 2x4 studs and a strip of Sheetrock and I'm done.

Has to cut this out nearly to the ceiling to fully expose the crack. Hairline for several feet. So I just went to the attic and cut it back where I knew it wasn't cracked. Going to fish a PEX tube down and reconnect.

Good deal, if you're gonna need to fix a burst pipe thats about as painless as it gets, outside of what we had happen:

what is that line? Is that a feed to a sprinkler system?

No its a custom job that the previous home owners put in that goes to another spigot in the backyard so they could have water back there.

I have spigot my sprinkler guy put on my back patio that is part of the sprinkler system. It's not potable water because of the risk of contamination, but its good for watering plants, which is why I wanted it back there.

I have the exact same setup, hose bib and down pipe , which is piped to another bib about 100 ft behind my house next to a tree so I have water in my far back yard....

I'm noticing a lot of people with copper piping break. Obviously no PEX breakage but any of my fellow galvanized piping people out there break?

Had a 2ft long split in one of my galvanized pipes. Main hot water supply to the house. Know I have atleast 1 more as well

So far unaffected besides a minor hosebib issue out back, but I'll be damned if I don't purchase a few couplings, elbows and a run of pipe to stow away in the garage for any future helter skelter. The plumbing part shortage is real. I feel for all of you affected by this nonsense.

We had about a half inch split in a hot water line in the attic. I was able to shut off the water going into the hot water heater so we could at least stop having to go get buckets of water out of the neighbor's pool to flush the toilets.

For some reason it's still dripping here and there. We've got a bowl underneath it but when I went up there last night to check it had started dripping quick. I'm not sure what the deal is there. We've cleared out as much water from the hot side as would come on but after a while there's more. I don't know if the valve's not closing all the way or is it possible cold water's making it's way back up the hot water side since there's no pressure?

Appointment wise, we were supposed to have been on a schedule Wednesday, then Thursday, then yesterday, and now we've got two saying middle of next week and one that said we were number 50 on their list and they'd be out in a few days. It's at least bearable so long as I can keep some water coming in. Now if this boil order can just go away.

My nephew McGyvered a break in my mom's pipes with automotive hose and clamps. Worked for the day and 1/2 it needed to.

Is it a gate or ball valve?

Not sure to be honest. It's a straight piece of pipe with a knob like an outdoor hose spigot.

That's a gate valve. There's a rubber seal that wears out allowing a small amount of water to pass by. You can replace the rubber washer fairly easily. I'm sure there are plenty of youtube videos.

Anyone have a Sugar Land rec? Water off but don't think pipe broken, but leaking main shut off valve and washer not getting water. Full post in Home Improvement with photos. On list I guess with S&B

Lucked out. Had one outside pvc coupling and pipe break, but it was below a shut off valve between the outside bib and the sprinkler. Galvanized interior pipe was epoxy coated 8 years ago after several pinhole leaks popped up. Thought those compromised pipes would break for sure. Had frozen hot lines somewhere close to north end of attic, but thawed and seem to be holding fine.

Hello, I hope everyone is doing ok. Earlier today as I turned on the water to my home, (I am on a well), I had a pipe(s) burst in the attic, there is water dripping down the ceiling in various locations (2 story hose).

My household has not had water for a week, and lost electricity for 48 hours as well. Now obviously we cannot turn on the water until the repairs are done.

This is my first experience with such damage, I have home owners insurance and also just filed a claim with FEMA (disaster declaration). Do I file a claim with my home owners insurance as well?

I have coverage for loss of use, does that provide me with a hotel room (nothing fancy) I need a room for my household members and pet to have access to water and to do laundry etc.

Any other advice is very welcome. Thank you.

Do you need 1 1/4 inch PVC by chance? Does anyone?

I found these stuff from a left over project. I'm in Cypress.

I don't but thanks for sharing. I have a short section of copper 1/2" and I'll go rummage through my plumbing stuff in case anywhere here finds a use as well

Anyone finding plumbers not having supplies to make full repairs? Had a major plumbing company come out to assess - they are capping people and such to get them water back but can't make proper repairs. Looks like we may have a break in our main line where it comes in the house and maybe IN the foundation (that sounds fun to fix), but they don't have supplies to do anything about it now. Wondering if I should keep waiting on others or if there is any point. We have water as our main shut off in the house apparently doesn't actually shut off water to the vast majority of the house...just our laundry room where the valve is located.

Pretty painless. Not quite as easy as pvc but not far behind. Easily accessible...I'd call that about as good as it gets.

I still have some tile and sheetrock work to do, but finally got my last pipe break fixed last night. My entire house is copper except for CPVC in my master bathroom. A plumber fixed all the copper breaks, but the CPVC break was in the wall behind tile, so I had him just cap it in the attic so we could get water on to the rest of the house. I figured I would fix that one myself in my own time.

After 4 or 5 days of visiting nearly every Lowes/HD/Ace Hardware in Houston and not finding all the parts/fittings I needed, I was about ready to give up and wait a couple weeks for supplies to be replenished. Yesterday, I just happened to be in Conroe for the day and decided to stop by the Home Depot. While i was waiting in the plumbing line, I saw someone returning a cart full of CPVC fittings. I hurried over there and took what I needed as soon as he completed the return. I really lucked out as they didn't have a single CPVC fitting on the shelf. I just got there at the right time.

My brother in law fixed our pipe for us. It was just a small break and somehow he managed to find a shark bit fitting at Home Depot. He said they'd gotten shoved all the way to the back of the shelf. I was kinda wondering if somebody wasn't trying to hid them for someone else.
