Just bought 2lbs. of the Blancas. Did you guys do anything to them prior to throwing on grill?

Also, had my taxes done for me while I waited on butcher. 1-stop shop!

I don't.
This past Sunday I was running late so I didn't grill. Just started up the blackstone griddle and got it plenty hot and did the onions and bell peppers then threw on the fajitas. Turned out great.
Good Day.

Zero affiliation with this place, we live in Cypress and I always pay attention to the Community Impact paper that comes in the mail every so often and pay attention to the new openings. I had seen some time back a Mexican meat market called Don Tomates was opening and finally had occasion to try it out.

If you head down Cypress-Rosehill like you are headed to 99, take a right where it intersects with Grant Rd, the place is just down the road after you make the right, it is a tiny place, chain link fence around the parking area, maybe 300-500 ft after you turn on the right, Their meat counter is small compared to La Michoacana, they have the red marinated fajitas you see elsewhere but they have these fajitas called "fajitas blancas" (white fajitas), they look like they have don't have much seasoning but they have been marinaded in something and are ready for the grill, on the advice of the butcher bought some, threw on grill when I got home, LEGIT! They have marinated and non-marinated short ribs cut just right for the grill, about 1/2" thick, bought non-marinaded seasoned with Montreal steak seasoning, pretty damn good!!!

On a side not, if you like tortas, most people mistakenly use bollilo bread to make them but the traditional bread used is called teleras, they have it there in the bread case.

Anyway, thought I'd pass it along, in case Cypress area Ags need a fajita fix and want to give this place a shot. If anybody else tries the fajitas blancas I'd like to know what you thought, I thought they were very good a different take from the red ones.

Anyone freeze these? I'll be heading up that way and want to pick some up for a future date

That's all I do. Marinate some veggies and the throw the meat in the middle for a couple of minutes.

Had a smidge of the Blancas tonight. About 7:30 total time on the grill. Perfect. Damn good flavor.

I don't do a thing to them, just throw them on the grill. Thanks for the comment up above on the blackstone because I've been curious about that, now Im going to try it. I had also been curious about freezing them, sounds like they keep well from the post up above. I like to grill and dice them, get the blackstone fired up and use it to heat up some corn tortillas in a bit of bacon grease just enough to get them pliable, garnish with onion and cilantro and Im a happy dude! What i have tried is after they already grilled and while I have the blackstone hot for the tortillas I put some diced blancas down, top with a melting cheese (jack or quesadilla or something similar) then put that on the tort with the onions and cilantro!!! The nice thing is they have steadily stayed open until 9 pm daily and if I'm in a pinch its a damn good meal fast! Im glad folks like them!!

Aggie8765, the short ribs!!! The butcher cuts them just about the right thickness fir the grill about 1/2". I like the with some montreal steak season, the kids can eat a mountain of those. Try them and season them with whatever suits your taste!

Went today. Sign on door says they are open 6am-9pm "Monday - Sunday"

They had fresh pork and cheese tamales $6.99/dozen that I bought to try. They also sell small bowls of their tasty green sauce for $3.

The chicken was good, not great - juicy but not a lot of flavor

The blancas lived up to the hype and were the hit of the day - blew everyone's dicks & ladydicks off

Jetch, in our part of town, there is a guy who lost his job in the oil & gas industry and is now smoking meat from home for sale. I got a whole brisket and potato salad for July 4th from him for $110. Still have a lot of the brisket in the freezer. Was AMAZING. Very tender and very tasty. I also did half chicken which was great and he threw in a link of sausage. Next time I am going to order the ribs from him. Very nice guy.

He is off Gessner/Mauna Loa (This is near Jersey Village). Smokin J's.

I was in the room here one day... watchin' the Mexican channel on TV. I don't know nothin' about Pele. I'm watchin' what this guy can do with a ball and his feet. Next thing I know, he jumps in the air and flips into a somersault and kicks the ball in - upside down and backwards... the dang (sc) goalie never knew what the hell hit him. Pele gets excited and he rips off his jersey and starts running around the stadium waving it around his head. Everybody's screaming in Spanish. I'

Does anyone remember when you couldn't find fajitas north of Corpus Christi prior to around 1980? Being from the valley we would stop by a butcher shop and buy cheap scraps and bring them to A&M. My white friends went crazy.

Randy, thanks for posting the Facebook link, we aren't rich but very blessed and that is exactly the kind of folks we like to support, so I'm going to contact him and place an order! Malla, you are telling me, growing up in South Texas, we used to buy fajitas for less than $1/lb in the 80's.

I had to get my fix, so I went to pick up a few pounds of blancas at lunch time. I'm watching the clock for the end of day so I can grill'em up! Nice for me because I live about 6-8 min away basically at the intersection Mueschke and Cypresswood, so just a short drive up Cypresswood and hang a left.

By the way, on that note I live in Villages of Cypress Lakes where that hit and run driver hit the little girl on the bike, thank God she is okay and I hope the find that ******!

Stopped by this morning for a couple pounds, $7.99/lb, Haven't bought meat at the regular grocery store in a while, I'm guessing the prices are stabilizing some? For a while COVID was wreaking havoc on meat industry, hope that has gotten better.

Also for you gringos, be warned that the green sauce by where you pay is indeed delicious. But it is hot AF.
