I've been looking at the data today, and maybe this has been discussed in previous posts (I don't remember seeing it).

Google tells me that Harris Co has a total population of 4.713 million. The population of Houston is 2.326 million. That's about a 50-50 split.

When I look at the virus dashboard, I typically look at Harris Co combined. But I looked at the separate numbers today.

Out of a total of 51,969 cases, Houston has 33,695 and Harris Co has 18,274 (not quite 2:1).

Houston has 27,526 active cases; Harris Co has 6,716 (4:1).

Harris Co has 11,353 (62%) recoveries, but Houston only has 5,865 recoveries (17%).

Deaths are 304 in Houston (0.9%), 204 in Harris Co (1.1%).

Agreed that's a likely a factor.

It doesn't explain the huge difference in % recoveries, though. That could be a function of poor follow-up by the Houston Health Dept (or whoever on the city is responsible for that).

Not a big Turner guy but it would be ridiculous if he didn't put out a press release thanking Cuomo
