Cy-woods would be a non-starter? Why is that?

Katy ISD south of I-10
In spite of some good passionate educators Cyfair Katy isn't about what is best for your child, its about checking bureaucratic boxes and test scores.

I attended Katy ISD schools for all 13 years and its the same thing there. We spent entire spring semesters doing TAAS/TAKS/STARR test prep. I married into a family of Katy ISD educators and they all tell me its all the same between Cy-Fair and Katy. The southside Katy ISD schools just have way more PTA money and involvement which can make a difference as far as resources. But all the district really cares about is hitting those test scores so they can extract every possible dollar from the state.
This reason alone makes me want for my kids to opt out of that horrid test.
The conversations will be uncomfortable, but we all have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable for progress to be made.

So it sounds like my ISD in small town East TX was the same as all the suburban schools.

I can still remember prepping for and taking all kinds of TAKS tests.

Somehow I finagled my way into TAMU.

We have been in Bridgeland for 10 years and love it. Kids have been at Warner, Pope, and Wells for elementary. Pope was the best, followed by Wells and then Warner. My oldest is wrapping up 8th grade and has thrived at Smith. Next year, I'll have one at Bridgeland HS, one at Smith, and one at Wells.

It's seems like the complaints levied against CFISD and KISD are the same across the state. At the end of the day, the crown jewel high schools in both school districts will be surrounded by money and act as a semi-private school.

All high schools within those districts offer AP classes, which acts as the final filter for getting good teachers and motivated students.

If you're not zoned to cy springs or cy lakes, congrats on receiving a good enough education in a safe enough environment to go as far as your natural intelligence will take you.

Cypress Realtor here and I'll give my input from buyers and sellers in both TL and BL. Towne Lake has more "cool" feel with the boardwalk and lakes. Taxes are high and sellers seem to forget about the tax that goes back to the HOA upon closing. BL is more laid back and the walking trails are a hit with my clients. They like the fact they can show there kids Mother Nature while still living in a higher end neighborhood. Resale tax back to HOA is lower in BL and once the town center is built on 99 it will be able to compete with TL on the cool side. We have a client that may be listing soon in TL. Beautiful home, gated section and HUGE back yard. Price in mid 300's. I'd love to help any one buy or sell

God this is depressing.

My kids took all the AP classes at the crown jewel schools (Cy Ranch, Bridgeland).

If this is as good as anyone can reasonably expect then our standards are so degraded.

Then the question I have for you is, what more did you want a public school to provide? And what private school do you think would have provided it? I'm honestly interested to know.

You were doing so good until you started to sneak in this slight opportunity to make 10k. Also the reason so many owners are out of the loop on the 1% founders fee is real estate agents who 'forget' to mention it.

Also a mid 300's home in TL is literally a 3/2 home with a front elevation of a garage door and a front door.

Your clients home will do fine on any listing service, no need to advertise here without being a sponsor. As a side note, your clients should consider listing with Red Pear Realty (a sponsor). Save the owners tons of money with flat fee listings for sellers and 2% back at closing for buyers. I'm sure you'll match that right?

You didn't ask me but I'll offer this. The oldest of my sons started public school in 1988. Let's say that education was an 8 out of 10. The youngest of my sons is a 10th grader. I took him out of public school in December. I would say the public school education available to him was about 3 out of 10 using 1988 as the baseline. Finding an AP teacher that could communicate in complete sentences might have changed my decision. Being told by an administrator that butts in seats for $ and standardized test results were their focus made my decision for me.

I think in everything your kids ultimately are your responsibility. A caring parent will make sure to introduce educational things throughout their life rather than just watching tv and encourage lifelong education.

A decent school within cyfair or otherwise is just the foundation.

Whats this 1% founders fee?

An additional percentage point that the seller has to pay?
