This reason alone makes me want for my kids to opt out of that horrid test.cajunaggie08 said:In spite of some good passionate educatorsDucks4brkfast said:
Katy ISD south of I-10CyfairKaty isn't about what is best for your child, its about checking bureaucratic boxes and test scores.
I attended Katy ISD schools for all 13 years and its the same thing there. We spent entire spring semesters doing TAAS/TAKS/STARR test prep. I married into a family of Katy ISD educators and they all tell me its all the same between Cy-Fair and Katy. The southside Katy ISD schools just have way more PTA money and involvement which can make a difference as far as resources. But all the district really cares about is hitting those test scores so they can extract every possible dollar from the state.

It's seems like the complaints levied against CFISD and KISD are the same across the state. At the end of the day, the crown jewel high schools in both school districts will be surrounded by money and act as a semi-private school.
All high schools within those districts offer AP classes, which acts as the final filter for getting good teachers and motivated students.
If you're not zoned to cy springs or cy lakes, congrats on receiving a good enough education in a safe enough environment to go as far as your natural intelligence will take you.

God this is depressing.
My kids took all the AP classes at the crown jewel schools (Cy Ranch, Bridgeland).
If this is as good as anyone can reasonably expect then our standards are so degraded.

Cypress Realtor here and I'll give my input from buyers and sellers in both TL and BL. Towne Lake has more "cool" feel with the boardwalk and lakes. Taxes are high and sellers seem to forget about the tax that goes back to the HOA upon closing. BL is more laid back and the walking trails are a hit with my clients. They like the fact they can show there kids Mother Nature while still living in a higher end neighborhood. Resale tax back to HOA is lower in BL and once the town center is built on 99 it will be able to compete with TL on the cool side. We have a client that may be listing soon in TL. Beautiful home, gated section and HUGE back yard. Price in mid 300's. I'd love to help any one buy or sell

An additional percentage point that the seller has to pay?
