Can't beat McIntyres for both game watching & scenery. I've been to Etro downtown a couple of times now and really like it as well. They play all 80s music and have a big brick wall that they play all of the videos on.

Im glad Etro kept the same theme when moving downtown. Old Etro was always fun, just the venue was getting grimey.

As long as you don't mind the plethora of ******bags that always seem to congregate and wandering around there. It seems every other word I heard in that place is "Bruh".

If you have a group of people and are at a table, do you really notice these people? Their TV setup for game watching is great. If you're going for a quiet chill night, or somewhere to take a date, it's probably not the place to go. Since the OP didn't specify, you're seeing a wide variety of answers.

Moved downtown a couple years ago. Depends on atmosphere

When it's not freezing go hit up the rooftop bar at The Le Meridien. I believe it's now called Z on 23? Great view of downtown

For a intimate date night La Carafe (Cash Only and no liquor)

Tongue Cut Sparrow is cool but only like 20-25 seats

Houston Watch Co. is badass for cocktails and a great whisk(e)y selection.

Been a Montrose resident for ~20 years, so love the old haunts (Poison Girl, Lola's, Rudz, Next Door, Kenneally's, etc.).

Also love some of the new spots like Hay Merchant though too.

If you're into wine, do yourself a favor and try out Camerata. Probably the most eclectic (and ever changing) wine list in the city. Great date spot. Awesome staff as well.

Forgot about the Red River Ice House. I don't live very close to that place anymore, but it was a good joint.

I'm all for a good dive bar but Lonestar crosses the divr bar line into "I think ive contracted hepatitis from this bar stool"

Where's he working now? He was an amazing bartender. He could somehow remember me and my regular drink after months or years without seeing me. I wasn't enough of a regular for anyone else at Kay's or the Firehouse to remember me, he just has like a photographic memory for everyone.
