Maybe Phideaux could get JCI to pick up the tab.

Problem is I believe they already lost that perfect spring date before the Masters and will be stuck with a HOT summer weekend.

Crane is proposing a mid-October date in the fall of 2019 with the tournament continuing to be played on the Golf Club of Houston course at least through 2020, pending a move to Houston's public Memorial Park course following a massive re-do.

"Once (the PGA) says go, we start pulling money together to renovate the course," he said. "I think we could raise the money in a year. You could play there in 2021, if you're lucky. That would be fabulous. We could get something going like (the) Phoenix (Open, sponsored by Waste Management) where you have a big turnout and raise a ton of money. You'd be able to draw crowds there."

Yes. The poster said we are toast unless a benefactor with a lot of money comes and saves the day. Which he mostly is... at least he's delaying it and keeping it afloat until a better plan becomes viableJJxvi said:Nope. The Milkman said:

I still think Memorial is a dumb idea, but there's a huge difference between trying to host in 2019 there and giving themselves 2-3 years for a MAJOR renovation and trying to host in 2021 or later.

Completely agree about waiting a few years. Especially with Memorial Park already under construction for massive general improvements right now to begin with (but stuff that also might make it a place more attractive for major outdoor events generally once completed).

I'm afraid a big time Tour event in Houston may be a lost cause unless a benefactor with a lot of money comes to save the day.

If they can pull this off, wow. Here is a mock up of the course going over Memorial Drive.

It may not be the course, but connecting the two sides of the park would be nice. Selfishly, a revamping of the course would be great all year round.Ag_07 said:aggiedata said:

If that's the golf course going over Memorial Dr then this is certainly gonna be a shlt show.
Wow, with swings I've seen on public municipal courses, I'd be weary to drive down that stretch of Memorial with golfers on the course.aggiedata said:

That and playing #10 at Bryan Muni were certainly dangerous games. I sent more than a few into traffic on Villa Mariaaggiedata said:Ha, yeah tell me about it. How many times did i send a ball down G.
