So my wife and I will be in Houston this weekend.
She loves the Riverwalk in SA especially during Christmas with all lights.
I know Houston doesn't have a Riverwalk but is there any good areas you would suggest with restaurants, bars and hotels all within walking distance. We're both upper 30's so a nice cozy booth in a somewhat quiet bar is more appealing to us that a jam packed shot bar with blaring music.
Any area with holiday decorations a plus in her book
TIA

Downtown. Quiet bars like La Caraffe, but also some small bars will have live music if you feel like walking around and checking them out.

The Woodlands?

Obviously nothing close to the river walk but agree that downtown is your best bet. Stay near discovery green and walk over there.

If you compare anything in Houston to SA riverwalk, you will be disappointed. You may want to try Galveston strand & nearby areas. Downtown Houston is primarily a happy hour area for local workers. It always amazes me when I see tourists down in the tunnels and wandering around the streets looking for interesting stuff to see & do.

You can't get more romantic than the Astro Inn at 45 and Cavalcade.

Second for City Centre, Galveston Strand (Tremont rooftop bar), and downtown/Discovery Green (in that order.

Stay at hotel Icon downtown. Walk around market Square and up and down main street to bars and eats.

And if you are feeling really spunky walk down a few blocks to Downtown Aquarium and take the wifey on the blue ferris wheel of pleasure.

Yep.

I did White Oak on NYE a few years ago and it was fun. Then I had a bunch of kids.

Mix of ages. Parking is the biggest issue there.

That place cracks me up every time I drive by. How many murder weapons and bodies have been dumped in the bayou behind that lot.

Trip Advisor reviews are Tine gold!

There are several good bars on Washington but you will need to Uber between a lot of them.

If you want a bar area that is all walkable, Downtown is about your best bet. City Centre has good high end eating and some more fancy bars like Yardhouse.

Washington is full of a bunch of ****** bags so if you want that go there. Second only to Midtown in that regard.

I'd vote Downtown between Main St. and Market Square if your wife likes to walk around and check out different places.

Washington is ok if going to a specific restaurant or seeing a band at Rockefellers, but tougher to crawl.

City Centre has the vibe of a giant shopping mall foodcourt, but with better restaurants.

Will have to dodge homeless people Downtown, so of course there's no totally perfect answer.

I don't remember if we discussed Rice Village, but that's another comfortable option for our age range.
*well, except for the hotel part.

We've stayed there for a weekend concert at white oak. It's not too shabby. The patio bar and pool area have a fun vibe.
