That's what a vet in CS told us both times one of my roomate's pit damn near killed the other roomate's SharPei. They argued for months about the bill but both times the SharPei seemed to start it with his incessant humping of the pit bull.

if you really want to go to court, you probably could take the property owner in or at least get their homeowners insurance involved as homeowners can be held liable for a lot of stuff that happens on their property. When I sign up for homeowners insurance they ask what breed of dog will be living at my house so they clearly care what dogs are on the property for liability reasons. I would say the homeowner should help pay for hosting a stupid ass dog birthday party

Seriously though, sorry about your dog but it doesn't sound like you have much of a case. I'm not an attorney. A bunch of unleashed dogs in somebody elses yard doesn't sound like a good idea. If the yard belong to the rott, you're passing on his territory. Sounds like your son owes you the other $1000.
