who's going? is it really worth the hype?

I have been to the one at SFO. I don't have a Platinum or any other qualifying card but was granted access with another platinum card holder. While the lounge was very nice, I don't think I'd pay $50 to enter with my Blue card. The food was good, not great. It's nothing I would have ordered but it was good as complimentary. The bar, though, is where I could find value if I were at the aiport long enough. They had quite a few Anchor brews on tap at SFO, so I 'd assume maybe they'd do some local HTX beers at IAH. All in all an obvious step up from the United Club if you can gain access.

How soon will it be open?

I fly out this Sunday and then again on July 1st.

I would want to check it out at least

this article says open soon, but the centurion website doesn't say anything about not being open yet

Yeah but it will be in Terminal D, so unless you're traveling on an international airline, not that convenient.

I too have been in the one at SFO. It's nice, didn't try the food. I liked that they had a kids room and my 1 year old daughter could run around and play in there without bothering anyone.

The one in Miami was pretty sweet. I liked it better than United's club.

I fly international often and I always leave from terminal E.

Not sure I have ever been in Terminal D, always C or E.

I travel through the DFW one often, the design seems almost identical to that one. Food menu rotates often and I've never had any issue with the options. It's a step up from most US based airline lounges that only offer light snacks & charge for meals.

Great addition to IAH but as others have said having it in the D terminal is somewhat inconvenient. Since Amex lost access to United clubs our only option to this point has been the Priority Pass lounge also in D. I was following a thread on flyertalk about this lounge, look forward to stoping by next time I'm at the airport.

I get a manicure and a massage every time I go through Terminal D in Dallas for free, plus the liquor is top shelfish

Been to the DFW, LAS, & SEA lounges. By far the best airport lounge out there. Damn good drinks. When's the IAH one supposed to open?

I have a United Club membership but am Gold and travel mostly international anyway and can get into the UC, so I've been thinking about getting an Amex Plat in lieu of United Club. I'm anxious to check it out.

I'll go slightly out of my way to get to terminal d to take advantage of it. When the wife and I go to sfo we basically just plan on doing lunch at their's the day we land and the day we leave.

Not even really comparable to united clubs, night and day difference.

United's clubs are over crowded and pretty poor in my opinion.

Apparently the points guy sent someone down to see it in person the first day it was open...

that looks like a freaking Howard Johnson kitchenette compared to the Turkish Airlines lounge in Istanbul or Virgin lounge in London.

Here now. Pretty nice, a lot more spacious then SFO. And the lady at the front desk actually recognized me from SFO.

Hard to find, but not terrible. The fruit is really fresh, the zucchini bread is awesome, and whatever egg dish they have is really good too.

And y'all are comparing it to some of the nicer and more expensive/exclusive lounged in the world. You realize if you don't have a platinum card the Amex lounge is only $50, which I don't know if I'd pay, but it's the same price as a united club.....

Seriously though- if its all the way in D Terminal- how long do you think it takes to walk to C?

D and C are right next to each other; it'll take you 10 minutes maybe.

Yeah. Took about 7 minutes to walk from c security to d. Just check to see which side of c your gate is on.

Is D connected to E at all behind security?

Isn't D about to get torn down?

One of the stupidest things I've ever done (ok not really) is go to the UC at Heathrow. Now the rest of them, especially domestic, just piss me off.

I had the same experience with the United Club in Tokyo, just spoiled me

I did...and really enjoyed it. The tram made it really easy to get there and back. ATMHockey would be impressed and could watch next season in style.
Was a little early so not too crowded. Food was def better than anything Ive had in an airport.

So I'm back. And the chef made some lemon pie crumble parfait dessert today. It was the absolute tits.

Also, as for beer, they have all the regular domestics, Stella, shiner, Sam Adams, a couple of st Arnold's, karbach hopadillo, and buffalo bayou more cowbell. Pretty solid section. Plus obviously mid to top shelf liquor and wine.
