OP here. My best friend insists that Whataburger burgers are superior to Fuddruckers. I think he's crazy, so I posted this question to Facebook a few years ago. The FB verdict was pretty split down the middle. I honestly could not believe that there was a good representation of people who if given the choice would eat a Whataburger burger over a Fuddruckers burger.
To me, it's not even a matter of discussion. Fuddruckers buns are amazing, their meat is cooked to order per your specified wellness (I must say that depending on location they can overcook the meat at times), and sky's the limit on toppings and sauces. I've heard the argument a few times that Fudd meat has no flavor; I don't understand this. They cook fresh meat on a commercial griddle that is used over and over and over to make burgers. That griddle is seasoned, the burger is seasoned, it's delicious.
Texas pride has a lot to do with the Whataburger infatuation IMO. And I get it, don't get me wrong, Whataburger is a legit fast food option that I have enjoyed my whole life living in this great state. It is by far the best fast food burger option in Texas. But better than Fudds? Cmon, shoot me straight here! I'm not saying Fudds is the best burger out there (maybe we can tear apart
this list in another thread), but if you opened two silver platters and a Whataburger was under one and a Fudd burger under the other, given only one choice, the answer is obvious (unless you're just craving Whataburger).
