Uber charges $9/hr plus $1.10/mile plus a buck for their cheapest option before surge pricing. Drivers get 80%.
Get fked if you think your high school diploma and Toyota corolla makes you deserve more than that.
The buck goes straight to uber and they take 22% of the rest (2% goes to city of Houston). On a minimum fare ($5.10) the driver gets $3.20. There is no $9/HR. Subtract depreciation of your car and gas costs...
I was not aware of the split not applying to the dollar or COH extra 2%. The $9 is a very real thing and it's the very next line after distance on your receipt. I'm pretty sure it's different for every city and it goes up with the higher grade services, but for Uber x in Houston $9/hr of trip time.
Also, for gas/depreciation. IRS rate is like 55 cents right now, and my truck runs about 60 cents. These average guys in their $6-10k late model toyota/hyundai/kia aren't pushing 30 cents.
The nicer services with better vehicles get more than $1.10 to cover that difference.

As an uber driver can you claim your mileage while on the clock as a business expense when doing your taxes or is uber claiming your mileage and part of the $1.10/mile is technically "reimbursement" at the irs set mileage rate?

I heard some participants of this strike are gonna create fake uber accounts to call and cancel rides with the so-called "scabs" this weekend
