That's not what she told me.

Over 11 inches in a gauge near Edna and still raining.
quote:I think 59 is trying to fix this itself. Wasn't it just last year they found a hole in the shoulder you could see daylight through?
How is 59 so bad at draining? It was barely raining but there seemed to be about 1/2" of water over the whole road and everyone had to drive ~45mph. trbl

I was a victim of Tropical Storm Bill. This little Mercedes spun out and got in my way. My Chevy Tahoe was like a damn rock and crunched his front end.

So no, I don't have much respect for any broadcast meteorologist. This is why I avoid local news entirely and go straight to NOAA, the NWS, Jeff Masters at Wunderground for Tropical Weather, etc.

Don't tailgate in the rain

^ wow! 9 school buses or ~37 cars would squeeze into that space
What car are you driving that is 10 feet long?
quote:LOL. Like you could ever drive in the Tine with as much a 2 school bus lengths cushion without 11 cars whipping in front of you...
Keep at least 9 school bus lengths between you and the car in front of you.

Better start drinking before expiration.

Man, y'all have flown off the deep end! Sorry I missed a lot of this as it happened. I was too busy fear-mongering to stop on the thread in the last 12 hours.
In all seriousness though -- weather does get ratings. It affects everyone. That's why you see it covered so heavily.
But, when it comes to so-called fear mongering, believe what you want. I can only speak from my experience. From what I've seen, the folks I work with make a real effort to *not* over-hype things and tell you what is *likely* to happen or *could* happen. But, the thing is -- people hear what they want to hear. A meteorologist says, "Some areas could see 6-8" of rain," and people hear "I'll get 6-8" of rain at my house." So, when they don't get 6-8" of rain at their houses, they think the meteorologist blew the forecast. When, truthfully, some spots did get the amount they were predicting.
Just my two cents.
