It looks like you will be glad you are at home around rush hour this evening.

I wonder if rush hour will be that bad this evening? Was smooth sailing on the way in for me this morning and the usual lunchtime congestion around 59/610/galleria was nonexistent. I get the feeling a lot of Bonnie's, Connie's and Linda's called in today so they could stuff their faces while watching The View and Dr. Oz. I could be wrong.

There won't be a rush hour because of all the p*ssies that stayed home.

Seriously...who stays home when it doesn't even hardly rain...

How much in lost production does the local news media cost businesses around the city every yr? It's insane.

Posing that question, on this website, is the most ironic irony in the inronical history of all ironicalness.

$1 Bob.

Business should make their own decisions, with cell phones and e-mail you can tell your employees to stay or come in with almost no notice.

One of the staff ladies arrived in the office a few minutes before 8:00. She saw the email saying "use your best judgment" on whether to drive into work, so she immediately went home.

Dedication.

Touche

Still though, I would imagine most of us are pretty productive...not looking for every opportunity to just not even come in to work.

Khou says it could still rain a lot. Their radar can't see it but it could be coming. Maybe. Stay vigilant and stay tuned.

Flatout -- no hype. I talked to one of our meteorologists directly -- probably our best forecaster. He says the worst stuff will happen late this afternoon and tonight. There could be severe flooding. The reason we haven't seen a lot yet is the fact the storm stalled and that was not anticipated. Because it stalled, it will draw up more moisture from the Gulf. The big question is where the massive rain band is going. It could be west of Houston in Columbus, or it could be pulled up into Houston. We are already seeing high water in low-lying areas. This has potential to be a dangerous situation. But, that is the key word, "potential." It's always a delicate balance for the news media when it comes to properly informing people when it comes to the danger and overhyping it. The truth is, forecasting is not an exact science.

Truth is, no one wants to be the weatherman that says its not going to be that bad and then its another Tropical Storm Allison situation. No one remembers the guy who said it was going to be insane and then its just another summer rain storm.

Tim Heller is easily the most laid back one. Thats why I watch Channel 13. Last night on the news he said something that made me laugh because it was so smooth and with pause for effect...

"So, as you can see, the storm should make landfall here sometime tomorrow and the time to make preparations....has passed."

Something to that effect. It was just funny to me. TIMES UP *****ES.
