Silly question I guess. I know there's Cavenders on the 610 loop but are there any other places to check out too?

I don't own any and never shopped for one. I just usually wear my 12 year old flimsy hat from college and other Aggie hats.

Joined a new committee this year at the rodeo and they require black cowboy hats.

Budget up to $150. Okay with spending more if it fits good and comfortable. I will probably only wear it during rodeo time while working and put it away till next year.

Oh yeah, I was just responding to the title of best hat store. I am not a budget advisor.

Just go to Cavender's, that's where I went when I joined GateKeepers a few years ago. No need to get anything fancy.

The Boot Barns(Baskins) will have plenty in your budget

While I agree his budget is more in line with the quality of hat at Cavenders.

Yeah, if you are in the market for a $500+ hat, then Hat Store is the place to go. Otherwise just go to Cavenders. Plus the usually(or at least the used to) give you a discount if you bring your gold badge.

Any western wear place will do. What you want is a Stetson or Resistol with as many X;s as you can afford. I personally wouldn't want anything less than 30X but that's probably outside your budget. If you're only going to be wearing it once a year, just get the cheapest damn thing you can find and try to get the crease right....
