Anagrammatic - I used to hear that the GP was supposed to follow 242 through the Woodlands and East to 59. However, the Woodlands had enough sway to push it farther south. Any truth to that?

I personally think that theory is garbage. The current alignment that is being constructed has been the preferred alignment since before George Mitchell turned the first shovel up in the Woodlands. There were multiple alignments over time considered, but the preferred one all along is the one being constructed.

Take all that for what it's worth though. I'm not a Houston historian by any means, but know a thing or two about the GP.
