Yup, I sure did. So I get my monthy bill and I have a $9.95 base charge on there.... basically if I use under 1000 kilowatts then I am charged the fee. Well I look at my usage, and I only used 996....therefore I am hit with the fee. I go check my box, and based on the current reading the number that they have was way off. I called and complained, and Amigo blamed it all on Centerpoint. Centerpoint then had to pull up some data usage and agreed that the number was off, and I had my $9.95 fee waived. Complete BS if you ask me. I'm going back and looking at all my bills, as it seems awful convenient for this to occur!!!

you're a dumb-ass if you think CNP is in bed with Aimgo energy over 9 dollars..There are huge fines that CNP and Amigo could incur for doing something like that..and lol at you for being poor.

If they read your meter wrong then you must have actually had more than 1000 kilowatts. Not 996. So with your bill going up by the reread of your meter, did you actually save any money?

I could be wrong but I would have thought the $9.95 base charge breakpoint would be set based on the fact that crossing the 1000kW mark makes them more money.

So htownfan13 finds out that a meter reader under reported how much electricity he used, and suddenly thinks he uncovered some sinister plot to defraud people who don't use much electricity?

Might want to try googling "what is the difference between a scam and a mistake?". He sounds like the kind of guy who can't wait to find an extra soda on his ticket at a restaurant, just so he can confront the manager in righteous indignation.

Just so you know, they are not required to read your meter every month or on same cycle. They can estimate and true up. So, your meter usage might not match up with their invoice data. However, this is easy to do with smart meters, assuming you have one and you should if you're in CenterPoint. Doesn't mean it's being done and it doesn't mean your comaint isn't legit. Just giving an explanation of the possible cause of your situation.
