As long as you don't tip with what's left on the gift card!

One of my dad's clients is some kind of steak fanatic who's always sending him gift cards to different chain steak restaurants. So when I go with them, we put do indeed put on jackets like it's 1965 and pay with a gift card.

F---IN A!

Worn a jacket to Mark's before but not Pappa's.

I have 3 suits, but I don't even own a sport coat. Don't even know what it's good for.

I'll do the shirt and tie, but the jacket - nope. But then again, I won't wear shorts that need a belt. Packable cargos all the way.

For all of you who feel that dressing like a slob is okay because the alternative isn't required, let me say this:

If you wear the same thing to Sizzler that you do to Pappa's Bros, you are doing one of them wrong. If you think that it is okay to do so, you are very wrong.

Have a little pride and awareness of your surroundings. Those who long for the days of 1965 may be on to something - they never had to sit next to a loudmouth slacker in purposely ratty jeans when they went out for a good steak.

Do you remember a time when chocolate chip cookies came fresh from the oven?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Do you remember a time when women couldn't vote and certain folk weren't allowed on golf courses?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Yeah, that's exactly the same thing. Wishing for the days when people didn't dress like slobs at nice restaurants is the same as wishing that "colored folk" weren't allowed in the door.

I guess I owe a big "never mind" to all of you who just don't get it.

did i miss where someone said ratty jeans were okay to wear or are you just making **** up cause you're being made to look a tad extreme?

I'm assuming the straight-ballers that "don't wear slacks for nobody" roll in $300 jeans that have been pre-distressed. I may have overstepped. My bad.

As for being a "tad extreme", if thinking that slacks and a button down at a prime steakhouse is appropriate attire is extreme, then I guess I'm guilty. I'd hate to hear how my views on proper church attire are viewed, so I will keep them secret.

What are you talking about dawg? If God don't like my running shorts, Ed Hardy shirt and Crocs at Sunday service then he's just an old fuddy duddy square.

some of you people sure do get worked up about what other people are wearing to a steak house.

If someone else's attire affects your dining experience at a steakhouse it pretty much makes you a giant sandy vag.

nope. thinking someone in nice jeans and a polo or button down is a "loudmouth slacker" and is "dressing like a slob" is a tad extreme.

if you use a wheelchair should you armor-all the tires before going? chrome valve stem covers instead of black plastic?

Ok, Ducks, agree. So long as you can also agree that thinking that dressing nicer is appropriate is not outrageous or ridiculous, as many have suggested here.

Because there was a time when wearing jeans to Pappa's Bros would have been out of the question. No one would have considered it. Things have changed, I know, and some of us older farts are slower to embrace that.

You should wipe the wheels off when you go inside. It's just a matter of common courtesy.

I hate it when some dude in a tux rolls his segway through dog doo and sits down next to me at Golden Corral. I tell him that he needs to be more careful when heading back from the buffet.

I didn't see anyone suggesting this...with the possible exception of brazosdog, who likes to troll.

I guess I don't understand what the laughing face icon means, for instance, on your own post quoting my suggestion that slacks and button down should be worn. My interpretation is that you found my suggestion "laughable", which is akin to "ridiculous".

First... Because your "minimally acceptable" attire is not worn by roughly half the patrons on any given night and second because you used the word kudos.

Just because I don't think that wearing jeans and a dress shirt is "ridiculous" doesn't automatically mean that I think wearing something nicer is crazy. I have gotten more dressed up for the place before but only because I felt like that particular occasion warranted it.

I just think it's a little silly that you were attempting to set the dress code for the place.
HtownAg92

This has gone way too far. The OP asked what the f'ing dress code was and I gave an opinion. A lot of people got butthurt because their opinion of proper attire at a prime steakhouse differed from mine. Some people agreed with me. I wasn't "setting the dress code", I was stating an opinion. Sheesh.
