Havent eaten here before, what's the typical attire like? Slacks? Jeans? Button down? Polo? Don't want to look trashy, but also don't want to look like kids out for prom at olive garden.

I wouldn't wear a polo but a nice pair of jeans and a dress shirt is fine. They'll be plenty of people wearing jackets as well.

I was hoping jeans would be ok

Jeans are fine as long as you do not look like a slob.

You can always wear jeans but it is somewhat frowned upon during the week unless you're Gary kubiak. Friday and Saturday they don't have the power crowd and don't care at all how you're dressed unless youre obnoxious.

I've been in Pappa's Bros. many times to see old oil wildcatter looking guys in there with dingy boots and jeans on being loud and obnoxious both on the weekend and during the week. It is a steakhouse so it generally isn't quiet in the main dining room. So long as you are spending money and not outright disrespecting others, they don't really care about what you're wearing any day of the week.

Nice jeans, nice polo for an early evening dinner on a saturday night acceptable?

I would never wear jeans or a polo there. A decent button down shirt and kakhis are a minimum. Throw on a sport coat with that and you're in good shape.

Tie is optional.

I make my husband wear a nice button down shirt and slacks when we go. I don't allow him to wear jeans. If we're spending $60+ on a steak, we're dressing up.

Why would a bunch of sales execs get bent out of shape over some other patron's attire on a weekday at a steakhouse. Seems self absorbed and pretentious.

Still, I guess there's got to be a place to eat for all kinds. Just not my cup of tea.

Then again, I'm one of those poeple that would never wear jeans to church, though a lot of other poeple do.

Went tonight, wore jeans and a button down. That was pretty much par for the course I think. The guy at the next table over was chatting up the sommelier and ordering big time and he was dressed the same. Definitely saw some folks in jeans and a texans jersey.

Food was excellent, as was service. This was our first time and we'll be back.

Wore jeans and a button down, no problem. Plent of folks in jeans.. Lots in untucked polos, some in 'nice' t shirts and converse.

Have had better steak, but the service and 'experience' of a nice place is 2nd to none. Best crab cakes we've ever had.

Polos and jeans are fine considering I've seen idiots in there with Affliction shirts worn over cargo shorts. It's a steak house, settle down.

We went last night as well. All the guys in our party wore button up shirts and jeans and looked almost overdressed. A lot of people very casual... Guessing since it's restaurant weeks.
Our first time there and the food was amazing! The strip was delicious and the crab mac and cheese was also great! Can't wait to go back!

I went a few weeks ago and it happend to be during restaurant week. There were people there in tshirts and jeans and a few in polos and cargo shorts.

You may not get turned away dressing like that, but it was not appropriate for the restaurant. Slacks and a button down at a minimum.

Move to Dallas, Richard.

this is Houston...there aren't many places you can't wear jeans and a polo and be just fine.

Considering the first 5-6 posters thought jeans were fine, I guess it's not that obvious.

I do not sit where the common folk sit so I never see jeans. Out in the main part of the house is a different story. That is where the jean and short wearing people get sat.

What about aggressively stitched jeans? What's the ruling on those?

jeans are fine. they are fine pretty much everywhere in this city provided you don't look like a slob.

the heirarchy of social status goes something like [trashiest to ballinest]

cargo shorts
levi 501s
khaki shorts
khaki pants
slacks
tuxedo pants
stitched/bedazzled/designer-faded/torn jeans*

*must have flaps over back pockets to qualify

Dress code is whatever makes you feel socially superior to the people in your general vicinity, or at least not inferior, for the self-conscious.
