5th Ward. Dont need pics and Ive been to them all.

Acre Homes is bad, but don't have pics.

I havent been to them all since I dont live in Htown but 5th ward is the worst I have seen.

my attempt at a tour map. I like to go on excursions to learn my city and these are places I've checked out.
Yellow boxes are areas I consider crappy neighborhoods to ghetto. That being said a few of these places border very nice areas so it can change quickly from one street to the next.

Make sure to wander off the main streets and onto the neighborhood streets. If there is no sidewalks and all the houses are leaning or shotgun houses then you have found the right place.

I worked at Westwood Country Club years ago on the SW side and it was pretty bad. I am sure it is not as bad as the 5th ward. I was shot at twice in my six years of employment.

I used to live just off Kendalia and Beechnut when it was nice over there. That was before the beltway existed and it was all farmland heading west.

The map is good but you need to get off almeda and the beltway and take the surface streets through hiram clarke.

5th ward is the most ghetto overall

Heights is the most ghetto neighborhood that whities will inhabit in any number

We drove 249 from Beltway to 45 last night. What neighborhood is that? It sucked. As does Veterans Memorial between N Belt & 1960.

Agsuper, when did you work at Westwood. I used to work there as well.

Bloody nickel 4sho. A Houston born cabbie from 3rd Ward once told my buddy "No trouble in tha tre but stay tha f*** out tha nickel".

3rd ward is pretty freaking bad though. 4th ward used to be rough as hell and still can be in small pockets.

No mention of Denver Harbor yet?

DH is adjacent to the 5th Ward and the rail yard. My dad was raised there, my grandma still lives there.
I'll try to get some thoed pics next time I'm there.

This is S Braeswood @ Hilcroft.
My grand parents live right around the corner on Rutherglenn and have for 50+ years. it is the house my mother grew up in and I have eaten here many times.

That bagel shop in Meyerland is quality. I'm positive that is not the most ghetto neighborhood. Not by a long shot.

Gotcha, I worked there 94-95

for those looking for a pic - go to Liberty Rd & Hutton. There's a vacant lot on the north side of that intersection. Seems like there's always about 8-10 gentlemen at that lot discussing the latest news/politics, along with whatever might be their drink of choice.
