Anyone live in the district and have opinions of the schools? Wife and I are considering moving to that area of town and noticed that our price range puts us primarily in the Memorial Middle/Stratford zoning (which we understand as good). If you move just slightly west, you can find some new builds BUT they zone to Spring Forest and then Stratford. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Very familiar with the neighborhood you describe.
Have 3 kids in the school system and could go on and on.
Shoot me an email and I can probably answer most of your questions.

I can tell you from experience that Memorial Middle and Memorial High School are definitely places you want to get into. They are exceptional schools!

Andrew Luck went to Stratford. Stratford builds champions and community leaders.

There is lots of good demographic and test score data on the SBISD website for each school.

Memorial middle seems to have the best demographics of any SBISD middle school. I can assure you that Spring Forest MS has worse dempgraphics and test scores.

Startford HS seems to have more ghetto apartments zoned to it tham Memorial HS.

You might also consider the Fonn Villas area inside the BW where you get Frostwood El, Memorial MS, and Memorial HS. I think the prices are similar to what you get outside the BW but still zoned to Memorial MS.

I think Frostwood El, Memorial MS, and Memorial HS is one of the best public school choices available without living 40 miles from downtown.

I live in the area.

There are plenty of new builds and re-sells west to Kirkwood in Wilchester and Nottingham that feed into Memorial Middle.

We looked hard at both, and while we preferred Memorial Middle and tried to buy a house there, we eventually found a house we love that is right on the boundary so we pulled the trigger. Spring Forest is actually more convenient IMO and my hope is it's quality when we're there. It certainly looks nice. There are apartments that feed this section though.

"Frostwood El, Memorial MS, and Memorial HS"

This is the trifecta of SBISD schools. Will be challenging to find anything in that area under $1 million that wasn't built in the 1960's and well under 3,000 sf, though.

My wife and I are looking to move into this area. Does anyone know of a good realtor that knows memorial /spring branch well?

Sounds like the OP really means the memorial villages south of i10, but north of buffalo bayou vs. spring branch isd. Spring branch ISD has some shitty schools, especially north of the freeway.

My wife only sells in that area, primarily Wilchester & Nottingham and is an Aggie ('93).

Wilchester, MMS, and SHS alum here. I enjoyed my experiences and I'd say I turned out alright.

I'm in the Rummel Creek, MMS, Stratford track. It's been great.

RCE, Wilchester, Frostwood, Bunker Hill, Hunters Creek all equal.

Memorial Middle > Spring Forest & Spring Branch

Stratford > Memorial IMO.

Wife and I are looking to buy a home in Nottingham West (West of Kirkwood on Kimberley). The house is currently zoned to Willchester. We won't have elementary age kids for the next 5-6 years. Any clue on if the neighborhood will still be zoned to Willchester by that point?

Hodgesco - I would say that it's certainly a risk that area gets rezoned out of Wilchester Elem. With the new townhomes being built at Wilcrest and I-10 many in the neighborhood are curious how the school will accommodate. I would think the further you are from the school, the bigger the risk.

And regarding the Realtor recommendation:

Kim Perdomo

She knows the areas west of the Beltway as well as anyone not named Clint Simpson. He's unlikely to give you the time of day unless you are selling or want to buy for $1MM+.

Thanks Golferag. We have a house under contract now in Nottingham West and Kim is our agent. Just curious, but probably not much we can do at this point other than speculate.

Spring Forest not great, but still fine. And you will do fine at Stratford. Very good school. Stratford, Memorial, Bellaire, and Lamar are easily the best public schools that are "inner" Houston.

Moved to the area a couple months ago. We are Nottingham ES, spring forest MS and Stratford HS. Best combo is frostwood ES and so on. You have to pay for those houses. We went as far as East as we wanted to afford.

To me coming from Dallas the area is pretty incredible. Our exact house zoned to Frostwood would be 25-35% more expensive (or more).

Before we moved in they knocked down two apartment complexes in the area and have already started the rebuild. Putting in more expensive apartments.

I would not recommend our realtor, but remember seeing some of the names mentioned above.

Good luck!
