OK Texags Houston board...this has to be the best place to ask this. Anyone else ever hear a story about an Oiler lineman that died in a car crash...but then the rumor came out that it was suicide after the crash because of an "incident" that occurred before/during the crash?

That's it! I want to know if that shiznit was true or not. (To the first response). The one I heard was he was getting beej, got in a wreck and the dude bit his dong off. He then proceeds to end it rather than do the explaining...

Jeff Alm was the Oiler. Happened at the 610 - 59 interchange late at night. Basically Alm was drunk and hit the guardrail launching his buddy out of the car and to his death down below. He saw this (and if the rumor is true was missing something down south) so he went to the truck of his car and pulled out a shotgut and killed himself right there on the highway.
I believe it to be true. I got a call from my brother the next morning... one of his best buddies worked the scene that night. Pretty sure I believe them.
and another thing that makes me believe it is Alm called out several times to his "friend" and then cussed then shot himself. It was too dark to see down there, Alm couldn't have been certain that his buddy was dead... what he was certain of was what else happened during that accident.

My best friend's mom worked for the team doctor. She said that the rumor was NOT true. There is no way of knowing for sure why he killed himself, but missing . . . parts, is not the reason.
If I worked for the team or the team doctor, I wouldn't want anyone to know that was what happened...

several relatives that worked for/with the team and still know guys from that team. false as far as why he killed himslef. some people just want to believe for some reason

I assisted with the accident scene. Houston Oiler defensive tackle Jeff Alm committed suicide by shooting himself shortly after a one-car accident in which his best friend was killed. Alm was the driver of the car.
Howevern, in 1992 I worked a fatality on the Gulf Freeway. Female passenger was blowing the driver. He veered left, over-compensated and hit the concrete barrier. The gear shift went straight thru her heart. She was drt [dead right there]

That was the rumor. Though I remember hearing Bum Phillips on the radio shortly after it happened. Either Small or Lord was talking about it and said Alm and the passenger were very, very, very good friends. Bum replied, "that's one too many verys for me."
Not a good thing to be remembered by true or not.
